Popular mobile games publisher Glu has had a string of hits over the years, but few have neared the success of their Summer 2014 release, Kim Kardashian: Hollywood. And as my grandmother always said, “when you’ve got a good thing, hang onto it for dear life.”

In the 18 months since Kim K’s gaming debut, Glu have released (and announced) a slew of celebrity games. Katy Perry, Jason Statham, Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj — even Kim’s own sisters have gotten in on the action. Last night, Glu revealed the latest pop sensation to join the ranks of their gaming universe: Taylor Swift.

“Bringing with her over 227 million social followers, I am thrilled to welcome Taylor Swift, an award-winning singer, musician and songwriter, to Glu’s family,” said Niccolo de Masi, Glu Chairman and CEO. “We realize that Taylor and her global fan base expect a new and highly differentiated mobile gaming experience,” continued de Masi. “Glu is equally committed to designing never before seen gameplay elements that utilize Taylor’s unique creativity. Accordingly, we will spend the required development time to ensure this innovation is achieved.”

That last statement from de Masi is a big promise, especially in light of how similar the gameplay in some of their celebrity releases (Kim K / Katy Perry / Kendall & Kylie) has been. Still, if there’s anything Glu knows, it’s variety. Their library of mobile games covers just about every genre you can imagine, so it’s not hard to envision a T-Swift game that breaks from their current celebrity mold. (After all, Jason Statham’s sniper game sure did!)

Glu are describing this as a multi-year partnership, so it seems safe to assume there will be plenty of fresh content in the pipeline. Taylor Swift’s mobile game is expected to debut in late 2016.
