I don’t think I’ve ever had a bigger “wow factor” moment than the first time I fired up Order & Chaos Online. It was 2011 — a lifetime ago in mobile terms — and Gameloft managed to pull off the impossible. They had translated a full World of Warcraft-style MMO experience to smartphones.
To put that into perspective, the hot new device everyone wanted in those days was the iPhone 4.
Now it’s four years later. The Order & Chaos franchise has expanded to include a card game and a MOBA, and it seems like there are plenty of other genres they could try their hand at too. But really — isn’t it time we went back to our roots?
Order & Chaos 2 Redemption was announced earlier this summer with a teaser trailer, and today the publisher is giving us a first real look at the gameplay. And it looks really good.
In addition to giving us a glimpse at how the game looks, today’s video talks a little about how the game plays. Or more specifically, a few new features. Order & Chaos 2 Redemption will feature solo dungeons (so you can have a raid-style experience without needing to gather a party first) and “instant quests” that trigger in certain areas, cutting out the need to start and finish certain quests at an NPC.
Fans of WoW-style silliness should be happy too — I spotted a quest called “99 Problems But a Beast Ain’t One” in the video, and I’ve got to think that the game’s humor isn’t isolated to just one reference.
There’s no word yet on a release date, but players can pre-register at orderandchaos2.com to snag some special in-game rewards when the game launches.
