When Zynga purchased CSR Racing developer NaturalMotion for $527 million, the studio had more than a few titles under its belt. But despite how cool titles like Clumsy Ninja and Backbreaker Football might have been, CSR Racing is theirĀ gameĀ that took pole position on the App Store. It did everything a company like Zynga was hoping to do on mobile, making NaturalMotionĀ (arguably) the most logical acquisition Zynga has made to date.

So is it any surprise that we’re getting a sequel?

Announced on an earning’s call by CEO Mark Pincus earlier this month, it was a quiet announcement that seemed all too easy to miss. Nestled in amongst some chatter about numerous existing games, including CSR Racing and CSR Racing Classics, Pincus snuck in the following:

In Racing, Iā€™m pleased to announce that NaturalMotion is planning to launch CSR2 later this year.

No further details are floating around quite yet, but with NaturalMotion’s upcoming Dawn of Titans already in soft launch, you’ve got to think it won’t be long before the team can really sink its focus into a CSR sequel.

We’ve reached out to Zynga for further details and will update this article if we hear back.
