With GDC week coming to a close, there are plenty of games (both in and out of the show) that we’re just now discovering. One of those games is Thumper, and its trailer might just be the most intense and intriguing thing I’ve seen all week.

“Thumper combines classic rhythm-action with speed and physicality,” reads the official description on developer Drool’s website. “You control Thumper, a space beetle, while careening towards confrontation with an insane giant head from the future.”

The game seems to be making the rounds of the indie festival circuit, appearing as an IGF finalist this past week and heading to PAX East to appear in the Indie MEGABOOTH this weekend.

Drool hasn’t confirmed any platforms for Thumper yet, saying only “it will be released when it’s finished on whatever platforms make sense.” So long as they can get it on a phone without sacrificing visual quality, I’d think that mobile makes a lot of sense for a game of this nature.

Then again, that’s up to Drool. And their opinions may differ greatly from mine.

Wherever it shows up, I’m pretty sure Thumper just made it’s way onto my “must play” list. Let’s hope that surfaces on the App Store or Google Play  so that it can make it to yours, too.
