Much like the series’ haunted antagonists, the Five Nights at Freddy’s games have a way of sneaking up on us. The latest installment, Five Nights at Freddy’s 3, hit Steam on the evening of March 2nd.

The third game in the series since it debuted only 6 months ago, Five Nights at Freddy’s creator Scott Cawthon admits he’s pretty trigger-happy with game releases. We concur.

fnaf 3

Like the previous games, Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 challenges you to stay alive in a children’s party venue that resembles Chuck E Cheese’s, right down to the animatronics that will kill you if you turn your back on them (I had some very memorable birthday parties as a kid).

The events in Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 appear to take place years and years after everything that’s gone down in Five Nights at Freddy’s and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. Scott Cawthon’s main page features an image of mascots Foxy and Chica, and both of them are looking worse for wear.

While the game has released on Steam, there’s no site of Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 on the App Store of Google Play just yet. That said, if FNAF 2 is anything to go by (it launched just 5 days after PC on Android, and 9 days on iOS) it should only be a matter of days.

With Five Nights at Freddy’s and Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 being the mobile juggernauts they are, we can count on 3 to inevitably follow – perhaps sooner than later. In the meantime, Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 can be downloaded for $7.99 on Steam. You didn’t need to sleep tonight anyway, right?
