Horse racing is for fools. Yak racing is where it’s at. This traditional Tibetan sport offers what it promises: Yaksmen racing horned mounts, often with displays of daredevilry. Yak racing is reportedly a lot of fun to witness, and it’s that sense of fun Mutant Labs appears to be reaching for in its upcoming racing game Yak Dash: Horns of Glory.
Yak Dash takes place across several mountainous race courses equipped with ramps and dips. At the word “Go,” players thunder across the rocky terrain in a race to the finish. The hairy mounts smash objects, leap over chasms, and seek out short cuts (usually via blunt force).
As players progress, they unlock more courses in increasingly-dangerous terrain including volcanoes and deserts. Hey, taking risks is part of the real-life yak racing experience, so…
However, the yaks in Yak Dash can also perform flips and crazy stunts. That is not part of the real-life yak racing experience, but who knows what we’ll see as racers get bolder over the months and years to come.
Yak Dash: Horns of Glory comes to iOS for $1.99 on January 22.
