If only old board games like Monopoly had open beta testing phases!

In conjunction with CJ Games Global and N2Play Studio, leading online games portal Netmarble has announced this week that Dice Venture, an online reimagining of vintage board games of old, has entered an open beta phase on the popular company website. So blow on those digital dice and hope for two sixes, because it’s time to become the billionaire tycoon of the board game!

Dice Venture plays sort of like a revamped version of the classic board game Monopoly, in which “players take turns buying and selling properties while travelling around the world for a chance to become billionaire tycoons.” Each game will take around 25 minutes to complete from beginning to end, and can be played in either a four-player head-to-head mode, or a two-on-two versus team mode. The game’s official website promises Dice Venture to be the “fastest casual board game,” with this latest iteration being “faster and crazier than ever.”

Dice Venture

Unique to this game is that players can actually create their own customizable character cards, which gives the virtual board game a much more personable feel. You can even gain special abilities in the game by increasing your stats using Dice Venture‘s star ranking system. While we still have a few weeks until the final version of the game is released, players who are itching to get those dice rolling a little early can hop on the game’s open beta period right now on the Netmarble website.

And here’s exactly why you should check out the beta: everyone who plays Dice Venture during this open testing phase will automatically be entered to win some seriously awesome prizes, such as a pair of Beats by Dr. Dre Solo headphones and a Microsoft Surface tablet. You can also earn some pretty neat in-game rewards as well, as Netmarble is preparing to shell out 20 million in-game currency and custom dice to all of their players.

A second beta phase will kick off next week on June 5, with the full official launch set for June 12. Players who participate in the beta will not have their progress or game data reset upon the game’s final release. Dice Venture is also planned to appear on iOS and Android mobile devices at some point later on this summer.
