When you’re a two-year-old, you don’t need scary movies in order to jolt yourself into a scare: The entire world is practically a freak show. Among the Sleep is a first-person horror game that puts you in the fuzzy jammies of a toddler who’s trundling through a hostile dream world. The game features no combat—little hands shouldn’t hold knives—so you have to rely on your wits and the environment in order to find safe hiding spots when danger lurks.
Among the Sleep is being put together by Krillbite, an indie studio located in Norway. The team is focused on offering exploration, environmental interaction, and puzzle-solving instead of fighting. Since you play as a toddler, your finest talent is getting into everything: You can climb up on objects to reach high places, peer around corners, open and close doors, hide yourself in shadows, and lots more. If you’re baby enough, you’ll survive your haunting trials.
Krillbite hopes to release Among the Sleep on PC, Mac, and Linux. The ladies and gentlemen behind the project need your help before that can happen, though. If you pledge $5, you receive access to the backer forum, as well as a digital wallpaper. $20 gets you a DRM-free digital copy of the game. $40 gets you the game, plus a printable poster and a digital card that’s been signed by the Krillbite team.
There are even better prizes on higher tiers, but they’re in limited numbers and many have already been snagged! Move quickly, and keep an eye on the Kickstarter page for Among the Sleep to see if Krillbite adds more.
Kickstarter Picks is a series of features on Gamezebo that will profile Kickstarter projects in the world of video games. We’re doing this in the hopes of calling attention to interesting projects in need of funding, so please, if a game looks like something you’d want to play, don’t hesitate to lend it your support!
