Kickstarter Picks: Chasm

Pixel art will never die, nor will indie games that paint beautiful worlds using those sprites! Discord Games is totally on board with that, which is why the retro-flavored action adventure RPG Chasm is currently in the works. Pixel art will never die, nor will indie games that paint beautiful worlds using those sprites! Discord Games is totally on board with that, which is why the retro-flavored action adventure RPG Chasm is currently in the works. Inspired by the likes of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Diablo, Metroid and The Legend of Zelda, Chasm aims to be the modern Metroidvania of your dreams. And from the looks of it, it’s off to a fantastic start.

Chasm casts you in the role of a soldier passing through a remote mining town on the way home from battle. The miners have all disappeared, however, and an ancient evil has been awakened deep below the surface. Trapped within the town, you have little choice but to explore the mines, battle enemies, increase your stats, and set everything right so you can go home and finally get some rest.

Chasm will feature six different environments, each stocked with randomly generated dungeons and more loot than you can shake ten inventories at. You’ll earn new abilities that grant access to different areas of the game, all while equipping weapons, shields, spells and more. A full battery of traps, puzzles, bosses and mini-bosses are also in the works.

Chasm is currently seeking funding via Kickstarter and should be available for Windows, Mac and Linux systems in May 2014. An early demo is currently available to play, just in case you weren’t excited enough already!

Kickstarter Picks is a series of features on Gamezebo that will profile Kickstarter projects in the world of video games. We’re doing this in the hopes of calling attention to interesting projects in need of funding, so please, if a game looks like something you’d want to play, don’t hesitate to lend it your support!
