Swing King Preview

I was the king of the swings back in elementary school. No one on the playground could swing as high as me, which left me feeling, quite literally, on top of the world. But having seen what the main character of Swing King is capable of, I now know it’s time to pass the torch. My days as king are over, and his have just begun.

Step aside, swing noobs.

I was the king of the swings back in elementary school. No one on the playground could swing as high as me, which left me feeling, quite literally, on top of the world. But having seen what the main character of Swing King is capable of, I now know it’s time to pass the torch. My days as king are over, and his have just begun.

As the name makes quite clear, the protagonist of the game is a king. In fact, he reigns over an entire kingdom, and one that’s teeming with all sorts of furry (and often cute) creatures. When his kingdom finds itself in danger’s way, it’s up to the king to—again, quite literally—swing into action. Luckily for him, there are all sorts of floating items for him to grip onto as he swings through the skies. Unluckily for him, however, there are also quite a few enemies and obstacles standing in his way.

Swinging in the game is pretty straightforward. The king will latch onto the nearest grippable item whenever you tap on the screen, at which point you can aim and slingshot him in whichever direction you like. More important than that, though, is the fact that you’ll unlock hats as you make your way through the game’s 92 levels. HATS.

Swing King

If the trailer and screenshots are to be believed (and why wouldn’t they be?), Swing King is going to be one gorgeous game. I suppose we’ll find out for sure when it’s released sometime in the near future.
