Cut the Rope creators get tasty with Pudding Monsters

It’s been a long while since we’ve heard from ZeptoLab, the creators of Cut the Rope. You might think they’ve been lounging around on their solid gold rocket chairs, counting stacks of money à la Scrooge McDuck – but not so! Instead they’ve been making pudding. Monstrous pudding. And you’ll get to taste it soon in their upcoming game, Pudding Monsters.

While there aren’t a ton of details out there yet, ZeptoLab are using the words “stick-’em-together gameplay” to describe the experience that awaits mobile gamers.  Players will swipe monsters together to form “the Ultimate Mega Monster,” and different monsters will have different powers, helping to create fresh fun throughout the game.

“We love experimenting with different themes and gameplay mechanics – and Pudding Monsters is exactly the result of that,” said ZeptoLab co-founder Semyon Voinov. “Our fans, new and old, will recognize in this game the same quality of graphics, game design and user experience that led to the success of Cut the Rope.”

While we can’t back up Voinov’s statement about the game design and user experience until we go hands on, the early screens provided to Gamezebo definitely support his claim about the quality of graphics. Not only do the pudding monsters look good enough to eat, but the art direction seems to have a charming 1950’s sensibility about it.

“We’re ready to bring fans a great new game that is suited for all ages and provides new opportunities for further expansion,” says ZeptoLab CEO Misha Lyalin. “We’re building a portfolio of exceptional pick-up-and-play games, and Pudding Monsters helps to showcase our ambitions as a studio.”
