Why walk when you can slingshot through the air?

The concept of platformers may feel like a limited one, but developers have cooked up a ton of unique experiences within it. Physics puzzlers are one of the most recent, and smartphones have become a serious hotbed for them. Jumpster, by developer Vogat, is an upcoming entry in the subgenre, and it’s arriving with the promise of head-scratching fun.

Players take on the role of the eponymous Jumpster, an alien on a tour around the galaxy. In what is best described as kind of a bad day, a meteorite smashes into the side of his ship, causing him to crash-land on the planet of Okadia. It’s the job of the player to help him track down the fuel he lost, and help him get back home. Because that’s what friends are for.

Tracking down a gas station and complaining about the prices doesn’t make for a fun experience, and that’s why players will slingshot Jumpster through deadly traps and conveniently placed teleports instead. Enemies will also be roaming the world, ready to gobble up Jumpster at the first sign of a poorly-angled jump.

The game will be free to download, but some as-of-yet unannounced items will offer players the ability to customize Jumpster as well as the way they play the game. I imagine this will translate to cosmetic items (like hats!) and a variety of power-ups. The team is also promising continual content updates, featuring new puzzles to solve.

Published by G5 Games, Jumpster will arrive on iOS in July of this year. Going by the trailer, it looks to be a game with everything puzzle-platfomers could want, from gorgeous graphics to challenging puzzles.
