Bumbee Preview

Imperial Game Studio has some odd premises behind its games, like undead racing (Zombie Riders) and little old ladies who are as mad as hell, and aren’t going to take it anymore (Turbo Grannies). The studio’s latest game goes for something a little more maternal, but no less intense: a mother bee’s hunt for her larvae (or, if you prefer, “babees.”) Behold the height of a mother’s love. Behold Bumbee.

Help a mama bee fly to the rescue of her babees

Imperial Game Studio has some odd premises behind its games, like undead racing (Zombie Rider) and little old ladies who are as mad as hell, and aren’t going to take it anymore (Turbo Grannies). The studio’s latest game goes for something a little more maternal, but no less intense: a mother bee’s hunt for her larvae (or, if you prefer, “babees.”) Behold the height of a mother’s love. Behold Bumbee for iOS.

Bumbee

In Bumbee, Mama Bumbee flies continuously on an endless search for her babees, which have been frozen and scattered around the garden by a prankster kid. When Mama finds a block of ice, she must crush it and rescue the little bee inside. Up to five babees can fly along with Mom, but as any parent knows, it gets a lot more difficult to move around when you have a kid or three latched onto you.

Dragging the kids along can prove beneficial, however. Rescued babees provide a coin multiplier, and Bumbee needs coins to buy power-ups that will keep her flying for as long as possible. For instance, she can buy Level-Ups at the in-game store, and any babee that Bumbee picks up beyond her initial five will grant her a head start when she hits the next round. Players can also customize Bumbee via microtransactions.

Keep on flying, achieve a high score, and then brag about it via the OpenFeint leaderboards. Oh, and don’t think you can memorize Bumbee‘s routes for a quick victory. Imperial Game Studio notes that the game’s levels are randomly generated every three hours.

There’s no definite release date for Bumbee at this time, but we’ve been told that the game has been submitted to the App Store for approval, so it should be arriving on your iOS devices soon.
