Game Introduction – Big City Adventure: London Story

Welcome to the Big City Adventure: London Story walkthrough on Gamezebo. Big City Adventure: London Story is a hidden object/adventure game played on the PC created by Jolly Bear Games. This walkthrough includes tips and tricks, helpful hints, and a strategy guide on how to complete Big City Adventure: London Story.

How to Use this Walkthrough (Please read)

  • This walkthrough is meant to be used as a guide to assist in solving mini-puzzles and acquiring all items in order to complete the game. You may explore locations in the order you wish, this walkthrough is written to take the most direct route to the game’s finish.
  • Inventory objects will be written in bold. The walkthrough will state, “Use the inventory item on the blah blah,” because it assumes you have the item. If you don’t have the item, on your keyboard, press CTRL+F (at the same time). In the text box, type the name of the item you are looking for and press ENTER. This will scan this page for the appearance of that word.

Gameplay and Tips

  • This is a hidden object adventure game. You will move from location to location solving hidden object hunts, mini-puzzles and picking up items to use in order to proceed in the game.
  • Help on the main screen explains gameplay.
  • Auto hint – This game does not have difficulty settings, auto hint sets the game’s difficulty setting. If auto-hint is on, sparkles will indicate areas of interest and will provide instructions to mini-puzzles. Auto-hint is accessible from the Options menu and can be turned on and off at any point in the game.
  • Move your cursor over every aspect of a scene and watch for it to change, it’s the only way to find everything.
  • The Menu button at the bottom right of the screen will bring you back to the main screen.
  • Items collected throughout the game go into your inventory, located at the bottom of your screen.
  • Closing a window – To close the zoom-in windows, click anywhere outside of the window. Tip: If you can zoom in on the area again, you likely haven’t found everything you needed to find.
  • Journal – Your journal is located at the bottom right of the screen. It records the story’s progress and can contain clues to solve puzzles.
  • Find postcards and other items to add to your journal. These items will be indicated by green highlights in the screenshots. There does not seem any achievements or purpose to collecting them all.
  • Mini-puzzles can be skipped once the Skip button fills. Click on the help tab at the bottom of the scene to get instructions on how to solve the puzzle.
  • Hint system – Hints are available in the bottom right of the screen.
  • Hints used in the hidden object scenes will point out an object to be found.
  • Earn more hints by finding hint coins in the hidden object scenes. Hint coins will be indicated by blue highlights in the screenshots. Hints are unlimited however if you find the coins, you won’t have to wait for the hint to recharge. When you use up your hints, the wait for the hint to recharge is quite minimal.
  • Hints used during the adventure mode will point out something to do in that room or tell you there is nothing to do in that room. It will not guide you as to where to go next.
  • Hidden object hunts provide a list of items to find. Click on items in the scene to cross them off the list. Once you have found all the hidden objects, an item is added to your inventory.
  • Hidden object scenes are different each time you play. Hidden objects screenshots will only highlight (yellow highlights) the items added to your inventory and hint coins (blue highlights) needed to find items.

Map

  • This game has an interactive map located at the bottom left of the screen. Click on the map and click on the area to return to. This guide will use the names of all the locations and rooms.

Scroll #1

  • After the animation, take the paper to add to your journal.
  • Go into the display room.
 London Story
  • Take the two scarabs and the postcard. Click on the display case to start a hidden object hunt.
 London Story
  • Find all the objects. An ankh is added to your inventory.
  • Return to the sarcophagus room.
 London Story
  • Take the two scarabs. Click on the pedestal. Add the ankh. Click on the open panel. Add the four scarabs. A mini-puzzle starts. Note the dots that appear on the edge of the tiles. Rotate the arrows so the arrows and the scarabs they are pointing to equal the number of dots.

  • When the panel opens, take the paper to add to your journal, then take the scroll.

  • Talk to the people. They give you a window key.
  • Click on the window. Unlock it with the window key.
  • Climb out the window.
  • The map is explained. Click Close.
  • From the British Museum Entrance, go left to the Oxford Street Apartments.

  • Talk to Dr. Winterbottom. Move the door mat and take the apartment key. Take the postcard. Take the curved pipes (2).
  • Click on the door and unlock it with the apartment key.
  • Go through the door to the Entry Room.

  • Talk to Dr. Winterbottom. Take the postcard. Take the picture to add it to your journal. Click on the chest of drawers (middle drawers). Look in the drawer. Take the small pebble. Click on the tablet on the table. Add the scroll. A mini-puzzle starts. This is a word search puzzle except with hieroglyphics.

  • Talk to Dr. Winterbottom.
  • Click on the map. Go to Buckingham Palace.

  • Talk to the people. Take the valve wheel (1/3).
  • Go left to Hyde Park.

  • Talk to the police officer. Take the two postcards.
  • Walk down to Albert Memorial.

  • Take the postcard and magnet.
  • Click on the base of the statue. Take the valve wheel (2/3) and the postcard.
  • Move down.
  • Click on the map and go to St. James Park.

  • Take the pry bar. Click on the bucket on the scaffolding. Cut the rope with the sharp knife. Take the bucket.
  • Click on the lamppost. Smash the lamp with the pry bar and take the three light bulbs (3/3).
  • Go to Trafalgar Square.

  • Take the two postcards. Use the manhole hooks to lift the manhole cover. Look inside. Take the empty oil bottle. Click anywhere outside the window to close it.
  • Click on the map and return to Hyde Park.
 London Story
  • Use the pry bar to lift the loose stone. Add the empty oil bottle to the puddle of oil to get the oil bottle.
  • Click on the map and return to Trafalgar Square.
 London Story
  • Click on the open manhole.
  • Add the three valve wheels. Pour the drain cleaner down the clogged pipe, then add the two curved pipes. Use the oil bottle on the three valve wheels, then turn the wheels.
  • Fill the bucket from the fountain to get the bucket of water.
  • Talk to the children playing marbles.
  • Click on the map and return to the Oxford Street Apartments.
 London Story
  • Click on the wanted poster. Read the poster, then click anywhere outside the window to close it.
  • Click on the grate. Pour the bucket of water in the grate. Click on the skull and take the diamond ring.
  • Click on the map and return to Hyde Park.
 London Story
  • Give the diamond ring to the police man. He gives you a business card.
 London Story
  • Click on the police station to start a hidden object hunt.
 London Story
  • Find all the objects. Ra is added to your inventory.
  • Click on the map and return to Buckingham Palace.

  • Give the business card to the guard. When the guard leaves, click on the gate. A mini-puzzle starts. Draw a line through all the stars. You can intersect lines but you can’t retrace a line. Click anywhere on a star to begin.
 London Story
  • Using the screenshot above as a guide, start from the yellow star and move downward to the left. Follow the lines to complete the star. When you get to the green circle, move upward to the right, then down. From the blue circle, move directly to the right. Complete that star and then move up to the top star and finish it. From the white circle, go in any direction and finish the star.
  • Before you go through the gate, click on the carriage to start a hidden object hunt.

  • Find all the objects. Khnum is added to your inventory.
  • Enter the gate to the grand staircase.

  • Take the postcard and the long metal rod. Click on the two vases and take Anubis and the pendulum (1/3). Take a picture of the large painting at the top right.
  • Go through the lower door to the green room.
 London Story
  • Click on the body grandfather clock on the left. Take the pendulum (2/3).
  • Go through the door to the white room.
 London Story
  • Move the sofa cushion and take the hourglass.
  • Click on the desk to start a hidden object hunt.

  • Find all the objects. Bastet is added to your inventory.
  • Click on the map and go to Leadenhall Market.

  • Click on the bakery to start a hidden object hunt.

  • Find all the objects. A pendulum (3/3) is added to your inventory.
  • Click on the map and return to the British Museum and enter the lobby.

  • Click on the sign display. Take a picture to add to your journal.
  • Click on the map and return to Buckingham Palace, go through the gate to the grand staircase and click on the top door.
 London Story
  • Add the three pendulums. A mini-puzzle starts. Click on the pendulums in a certain order so they all stay raised. Click on all the pendulums until one stays raised. That will be pendulum #1. With #1 raised, click on another pendulum. If #1 lowers, click on it again and click on another pendulum. Continue until a second pendulum stays raised. That becomes pendulum #2. Continue.
  • Solution:

  • Enter the throne room.
 London Story
  • Take the postcard and the mechanical clock. Lift the rug and take the puzzle disk (1/4).
  • Now you must place the Egyptian figures on the chairs on either side of the throne. To know what order to place the figures, you must have visited the British Museum’s lobby and taken a picture of the display. Open your journal and turn back through the pages to the British Museum pages.
  • On the chair posts, from left to right, place Ra, Khnum, Bastet and Anubis.
  • Click on the panel that opened above the throne.
  • A mini-puzzle starts. Press all the buttons in the correct order to end at the bronze button in the bottom right.. The number indicates how many spaces to move and the letter indicates the direction. U=up, d=down, l=left and r=right.

  • Start with the button indicated by a yellow circle in the screenshot above.
  • When you are finished, take the scroll. You are asked if you want to decipher the scroll. Click Yes to return to the Oxford Street Apartment’s entry room.

  • Click on the tablet on the table. Add the scroll. A mini-puzzle starts. This is a word search puzzle except with hieroglyphics.

  • Click on the map and return to Hyde Park.

  • Click on the police station to start a hidden object hunt.

  • Find all the objects. A digital clock is added to your inventory.
  • Click on the map and return to St. James Park.
 London Story
  • Put the canvas bag in front of the snake, then coax it into the bag using the long metal rod. The bagged snake is added to your inventory. Once you have done this, click on the picnic to start a hidden object hunt.

  • Find all the objects. Garden shears are added to your inventory.
  • Click on the map and go to Westminster Abbey.
 London Story
  • Take the postcard, the ladder and sundial. Click on the fountain and take the pipe wrench.
  • Click on the bench and take a picture of the symbols.
  • Click on the bush. Trim the bush with the garden shears and take the crank handle.
  • Click on the door to activate a new task. Move down.
  • Go right to the Houses of Parliament.
 London Story
  • Click on the truck. Talk to the worker. Take the shovel and two flares (2/2). Click anywhere outside the window to close it.
  • Click on the map and return to the British Museum.
 London Story
  • Click on the winch. Add the crank handle. When the lift lowers, take the red paint, yellow paint and blue paint.
  • Click on the map and return to Westminster Abbey.
 London Story
  • Click on the door. Add the red paint, blue paint and yellow paint to the pegs. A mini-puzzle starts. Paint the image with the condition that a same colour can’t border itself (i.e., red can’t be beside red, etc.).

  • When you are finished, enter the organ room.
 London Story
  • Take the postcard. Use the magnet to open the small panel. Take organ knob D.
  • Click on the organ to activate a new goal. Take the cleaning rag. Click down.
  • Enter Poet’s Corner to start a hidden object hunt.
 London Story
  • Find all the objects. A pendulum clock is added to your inventory.
  • Click on the map and return to Buckingham Palace.
  • Go through the gate and go into the green room and then left to the white room.
 London Story
  • Click on the fireplace. Use the pipe wrench to loosen the valve, then take the bolt cutters.
  • Click on the table. Clean the mess with the cleaning rag. Take a picture of the desing.
  • Go right into the green room.
  • Click on the map and return to the Oxford Street Apartments.
 London Story
  • Click on the tile in front of the door. Click on the tiles so they match the pattern you saw after cleaning the table in the white room (check your journal).
  • Take the pocket watch.
 London Story
  • Put the ladder against the right wall and use the bolt cutters on the painting. Take the sheet music. Take the ladder.
  • Click on the chest of drawers.
  • In your inventory, you have six timepieces: an hourglass, a mechanical clock, a digital clock, a sundial, a pendulum clock and a pocket watch.
  • Note the dates on the drawers. Put the timepiece in the drawer that matches its time period.
  • Solution: 1500BC – sundial, 1300AD – hourglass, 1500AD – pocket watch, 1600AD – pendulum clock, 1800AD – mechanical clock, 1900AD – digital clock.
  • When the bottom drawer opens, take the clock key.
 London Story
  • Click on the face of the grandfather clock on the left. Note the time. Click on the face of the grandfather clock on the right and set the time according to the clock on the left (click and drag the hands). Once you’ve done this, click on the body of the grandfather clock on the right. Open the door with the clock key and take the organ knob G.
  • Click on the map and return to Westminster Abbey.
  • Enter the Abbey and enter the coronation room on the right to start a hidden object hunt.
 London Story
  • Find all the objects. Organ knob E is added to your inventory.
  • Click on the organ.
 London Story
  • Add the three organ knobs (from left to right, add the D, E G knobs), then add the sheet music. A mini-puzzle starts. Play the tune according to the sheet music.
  • Solution: Play keys D-E-F-E-D-A.
  • When you are finished, take the scroll. You are asked if you want to decipher the scroll. Click Yes to return to the Oxford Street Apartment’s entry room.

  • Take the two postcards. Use the cleaning rag to clean the window, then take a picture of it.
  • Continue forward to Covent Garden.

  • Talk to the woman. Take the postcards. Give the toy mouse to the cat, then take the basil from where it falls.
  • Throw the small pebble at the upper window and take the oregano from where it falls.
  • Enter the Odds & Ins Store to start a hidden object hunt.

  • Find all the objects. A UV spotlight bulb is added to your inventory.
  • Return to Leadenhall Market.
 London Story
  • Talk to the florist. She gives you a bronze hat.
  • Click on the bakery to start a hidden object hunt.

  • Find all the objects. Braided sweet bread is added to your inventory.
  • Return to the Piccadilly Circus Arcade.

  • Talk to the Tartan Store owner. Put the bronze hat on the statue. When the drawer opens, take the screwdriver.
  • Enter the Tartan Store to start a hidden object hunt.

  • Find all the objects. A cart wheel is added to your inventory.
  • Put the cart wheel on the cart. A mini-puzzle starts. Arrange all the boxes on the cart. They cannot overlap and all must be used.

  • Talk to the police officer. Take the postcard. Click on the telephone booth and look inside. Click on the coin return slot and take the coin.
  • Click on the newspaper box. Add the coin and take the newspaper.
  • Enter the inspector’s office.
 London Story
  • Take the postcard and take a picture of the photograph. Take the British Museum keycard.
  • Click on the vent. Remove the vent with the screwdriver (click directly on each screw) and take the lion.
  • Click on the typewriter on the right to start a hidden object hunt.
 London Story
  • Find all the objects. A mailbox key is added to your inventory.
  • Leave the inspector’s office to the Scotland Yard entrance.
  • Click on the mailbox. Unlock it with the mailbox key. Take the letter.
  • Go back into the inspector’s office and click on the bulletin board. Add the newspaper and the letter. A mini-puzzle starts. Use the clues to solve the logic puzzle. Use the grid to solve the puzzle. Click in a box to add a checkmark if you know something is correct or an x if you know it is not correct.

  • Go outside to the Scotland Yard entrance. The police officer gives you a stamp.
  • Click on the map and return to the British Museum.
  • Enter the lobby.
 London Story
  • Click on the security guard. Give him the red roses.
  • After he leaves, use the British Museum keycard to unlock the door.
  • Enter the janitor’s room.
 London Story
  • Take the caulking gun, eletrical tape, blowtorch and copper wire. Click on the garbage can and take the janitor’s key.
  • Click on the map and return to Covent Garden.
 London Story
  • Talk to the woman. She gives you the soapy water spray.
  • Click on the rosemary plant and spray it with the soapy water spray. Take the rosemary.
  • Click on the map and return to St. James’ Palace.
 London Story
  • Talk to the guard. The braided sweet bread is automatically given to him. Give him the rosemary, basil and oregano.
  • When the guard leaves, take the palace keycard.
  • Click on the map and return to Covent Garden.
 London Story
  • Enter the Tea Shop to start a hidden object hunt. Find all the objects. The Albert Memorial postcard is added to your inventory.
  • Enter the Ins and Outs Store to start a hidden object hunt.
 London Story
  • Find all the objects. A unicorn is added to your inventory.
  • Click on the map and return to the Albert Memorial.
 London Story
  • Click on the relief. Add the Albert Memorial postcard. A mini-puzzle starts. Find the differences between the top and bottom images.
  • Solution:

  • Take the royal crest.
  • Click on the base of the statue. Add the royal crest, lion and unicorn. Make the image match the image that you saw when you cleaned the Tartan Shop’s window (it’s in your journal).
 London Story
  • Take the carriage key and the stamp.
  • Click on the map and return to St. James’ Palace and go into the courtyard.
 London Story
  • Click on the carriage and unlock it with the carriage key. Take the bird seed and the stamp.
  • Click on the spotlight. Add the UV spotlight bulb. Add the copper wire then the electrical tape to fix the wiring.
  • Use the shovel to dig up where the X is on the ground. Take the door handle.
  • Click on the security camera. Give the bird seed to the bird.
  • Click on the door. Add the palace keycard and the door handle. A mini-puzzle starts. Click on five buttons to unlock the door. Turn the handle to reset the puzzle. Find the five symbols (numbers or roman numerals) that only appear once in the puzzle.
  • Solution:

  • Enter the stamp room.
 London Story
  • Take the postcard. Take a picture of the photograph. Add the three bulbs to the light fixture. Turn on the switch, then take the stamp from the light fixture. Lift the flap of wallpaper and take the stamp.
  • Click on the stamp box. Add the five stamps. A mini-puzzle starts. Arrange the five stamps so only one stamp is in each row, column and diagonal line.

  • Dr. Winterbottom gives you a cup of hot tea. Put the hot tea on the chest of drawers and the number 787 is revealed on the mirror.
  • Click on the table’s drawer. Enter the combination 7-8-7. Take the box of matches.
  • Click on the map and return to the Houses of Parliament.
  • Click on the truck.
 London Story
  • Put the tar roof tiles in the drum. Put the blowtorch beside the drum, then light it with the box of matches.
  • Click on the tree on the right. Talk to the guard. Click anywhere outside the window to close it.
  • Enter the lobby.
 London Story
  • Talk to the security guard. Take the postcard and the circuit breaker (1/3).
  • Click on the small door and take the bust of the Prime Minister 1852.
  • Click on the empty frame. A mini-puzzle starts. Solve the jigsaw puzzle.
  • Solution:
 London Story
  • A code appears on the painting.
  • Click on the monitor on the left. Enter the authorization code that appeared on the painting. When the monitor closes, talk to the security guard.
  • Go through the archway to the clock tower entrance.
 London Story
  • Take the picture of the photograph. Take the circuit breaker (2/3). Click on the loose brick. Remove the brick and take the Shakespeare coin.
  • Click on the map and return to Westminster Abbey.
  • Enter the abbey and enter Poet’s Corner to start a hidden object hunt.
 London Story
  • Find all the objects. The bust of Prime Minister 1828 is added to your inventory.
  • Click on the map and go to the Globe Theatre.
 London Story
  • Take the postcard. Take a picture of the posters.
  • Click on the pavement. Pour the bucket of water on it, then take a picture of the design.
  • Click on the loose brick. Remove the brick and take Hamlet.
  • Go right to the Tower Bridge.
 London Story
  • Talk to the Beefeater.
  • Take the postcards. Take the bag of salt. Click on the area of the bridge beside the gate and take the straight pipe.
  • Click on the map and return to the Houses of Parliament.
  • Click on the tree on the right.
 London Story
  • Use the bag of salt to melt the ice. Take the pipe cutters. Put the ladder against the tree to rescue the Corgi. The guard gives you a Globe Theatre ticket.
  • Click on the map and return to the Globe Theatre.
 London Story
  • Take the raven.
  • Go right to the Tower Bridge.
  • Give the raven to the Beefeater. When he opens the gate, go through it to the Tower of London.
 London Story
  • Take the postcard.
  • Put the bagged snake on the hole in the wall. Take the star key.
  • Enter the tower armoury on the left to start a hidden object hunt.
 London Story
  • Find all the objects. Shakespeare’s coin (3/3) is added to your inventory.
  • Click on the map and return to the Globe Theatre.
  • Click on the gate and add the three Shakespeare’s coins. A mini-puzzle starts. Click on five coins to flip them. Solve the puzzle by having all the coins show tails. There is no reset button so a step-by-step solution is not possible. There are many ways to solve this puzzle.
  • Talk to the couple.
  • Go through the gate to the stage.
 London Story
  • Talk to the actor.
  • Take the postcard, Merchant of Venice and the circuit breaker (3/3).
  • Click on the map and return to the Houses of Parliament.
  • Enter the lobby and go left into Lords Norman Porch.
 London Story
  • Take the postcard and Hamlet’s sword. Enter the Lords Library on the left to start a hidden object hunt.
 London Story
  • Find all the objects. A hair dryer is added to your inventory.
  • Enter the Lords Robing Room to start a hidden object hunt.
 London Story
  • Find all the objects. The bust of Prime Minister – 1756 is added to your inventory.
  • Go right and go through the archway to the clock tower entrance.
 London Story
  • Cut the leaky pipe with the pipe cutters, then add the straight pipe and seal it with the caulking gun.
  • Click on the electrical panel and unlock it with the star key.
  • Use the hair dryer to dry the panel, then add the three circuit breakers. Turn all the breakers to the on position (they should be red, not green). Then click the levers so they are all in the up position. Each lever controls itself and one or two other levers. Click to determine the pattern.
  • Once they are all up, the door opens. Enter the clock tower to start a hidden object hunt.

  • Find all the objects. The bust of Prime Minister – 1830 is added to your inventory.
  • Click on the map and return to the Tower of London.
  • Enter the palace bedroom on the left to start a hidden object hunt.

  • Enter the lobby and go left into Lords Norman Porch.

  • Put the five Prime Minister busts on the pedestals. Note the symbol that is etched on each symbol. As well, each bust has a date etched on it. Open your journal and look for the various photographs of the Prime Ministers. Note the date associated with each and their name or title. Note: You need to have taken pictures of photographs that you have seen in the scenes you have visited.
  • From left to right, place Prime Minister – 1852 (Derby hat), Prime Minister – 1830 (Earl Grey – tea), Prime Minister – 1828 (Wellies are boots), Prime Minister – 1894 (Rosebery), Prime Minister – 1756.
  • When you are finished, take the cross from where the painting opened.
  • Enter the Lords Library to start a hidden object hunt.

  • Find all the objects. Romeo and Juliet is added to your inventory.
  • Go right and go through the archway to the clock tower entrance.
  • Enter the clock tower to start a hidden object hunt.

  • Find all the objects. A grappling hook is added to your inventory.
  • Click on the map and return to the Globe Theatre.
  • Go through the gate to the stage.

  • Use the grappling hook on the seats to get Macbeth.
  • Click on the box on the stage. Add Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet and Merchant of Venice. Take the skull.
  • Click on the actor three times to give him the chalice, skull and Hamlet’s sword.
  • Enter the props room to start a hidden object hunt.

  • Find all the objects. Rope is added to your inventory.
  • Click on the map and return to the Tower of London.
  • Go to the Tower Green to start a hidden object hunt.

  • Find all the objects. Steak is added to your inventory.

  • Click on the string. Add the steak. Watch the bird fly up to a perch. Click on the string that’s on the ground (left lawn). Add the rope. Click on the rope.
  • Climb up to the Tower Chapel.

  • Put the cross on the pedestal. Put the two flares on the candelabra on the altar. Arrange the shapes. Open your journal and go to the Globe Theatre pages. You need to have poured water on the pavement and taken a picture of the design for it to be there (if you haven’t, instructions are above).
  • Once this is all done, click on the cross reflection. Take the scroll. You are asked if you want to decipher the scroll. Click Yes to return to the Oxford Street Apartment’s entry room.
  • Click on the tablet on the table. Add the scroll. A mini-puzzle starts. This is a word search puzzle except with hieroglyphics.

The Finale

  • After all the dialogue, take the green gem.
  • Click on the map and return to the Globe Theatre.
  • Talk to the actor. Give him the Globe Theatre ticket. Go through the gate to the stage.
  • Talk to the couple. They give you a fuse (1/4).
  • Enter the props room to start a hidden object hunt.

  • Find all the objects. Fuses (4/4) are added to your inventory.
  • Click on the map and return to the British Museum.
  • Enter the lobby and go right into the janitor’s room.
 London Story
  • Click on the electrical panel. Unlock it with the janitor’s key. A mini-puzzle starts. Rearrange the wires to create one continuous circuit. Note that not all wires have to be used.
  • Solution:

  • Move the lever to the On position.
  • Enter the sarcophagus room and go forward to the display room.

  • After the animation, click on the display case to start a hidden object hunt.

  • Find all the objects. Two red gems are added to your inventory.
