Bug Heroes Quest adds some story elements to this action-packed insect series

Remember Bug Heroes? That crazy dual-stick action meets defense game? You know, the one that was actually pretty great? Well, good news, everyone! Foursaken Media has decided to release a sequel called Bug Heroes Quest that’s promising to be even bigger and more epic than its predecessor.

Bug Heroes Quest was designed based on the requests of fans of the first game: Foursaken Media got a lot of feedback from players who wanted to further explore the Bug Heroes universe. As a result, players will be able to control one of three different heroes and have them travel across a massive fantasy world, as well as a engage in a new storyline that promises to not be “the same old medieval setting, cookie cutter ‘save the princess and kingdom’ story and environment.”

The fantasy world is going to include a total of sixty missions across a slew of different settings, the latter of which are packed with a ton of hidden treasure caches to find and characters to talk with. However, Foursaken Media is promising that the game won’t rely on “endless grinding” to get players to level up and extend the game’s length. From the sound of things, the tower-defense elements of gameplay have been dropped for this sequel, too – Bug Heroes Quest seems to be going in a decidedly story-based, RPG-like adventure direction.

After players have leveled up their characters, they’ll also be able to compete in various combat arenas. Thanks to the Game Center, players will be able to compare their scores with those of their friends and see how they compare to other Bug Gladiators across the globe.

At the moment, the game doesn’t have a precise release date. It’s expected to come out by early August. As a bonus, players who’re interested in checking out the original Bug Heroes while they wait can currently pick it up on the App Store for free.
