Carmen is back
Carmen Sandiego is back and she’s on Facebook. Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? brings the globe trotting villainess to the world’s biggest social network, and based on our early time spent with the game it looks like it was a trip well worth it.
As always, the game is about finding Sandiego and her criminal compadres. You play as an ACME special agent, and you’ll get to take on a variety of cases. Each one has you travelling the globe, putting together clues as you try to figure out just where in the world the criminal is. You’ll start out in one city, and you can talk to people who will give you clues about both where the person you’re in search of is, as well as various personality and physical traits that can help you find them.
You can use the character traits to narrow down the list of potential suspects. For example, if you learn that the criminal has blue eyes, select the blue eye option and it will eliminate all non-blue eyed suspects. Once you have narrowed the field down to just one bad guy, you can issue a warrant, which you’ll need to do before you find them otherwise they’ll get away.
You’ll also get geographical clues that give hints about where you’ll need to go. These mostly consist of famous landmarks. So if you hear that a character has been seen near the Sear’s Tower, you know that you need to hop on a plane to Chicago. You’ll know if you chose the wrong city if nobody has any useful information for you.
The trick is that you only have a certain amount of time to complete a case. Not real world time, like in most Facebook games, but in-game time. And pretty much everything you do in the game takes time. So if you want to take a 12 hour flight, 12 hours will be taken off of your overall time.
With some fun (and educational!) gameplay, it looks like Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? is shaping up quite nicely. Stay tuned to Gamezebo as we’ll be posting our full review in the near future.
