Luxor Adventures Review

What do you get when you cross the wildly popular hidden object game (HOG) genre with one of the most beloved ball-busting franchises in casual gaming history? The answer is Luxor Adventures, the latest from Mumbo Jumbo that does a great job fusing the two types of play together, as well as folding in a good story, a myriad of mini-games and high production values.

Treasures of the Serengeti Review

It's hard to imagine the dry, grassy plains of the Serengeti would be a particularly hospitable location to settle, and it's certainly not the kind of place where you'd expect to encounter a land rich with colorful gems ripe for the plucking. Treasures of the Serengeti may take more than a few liberties with its premise, but the tribal setting provides a nice backdrop for an unusual blend of traditional jigsaw puzzle and fast-paced gem matching gameplay.

Magnetis Review

Attraction is the name of the game in new studio Yullaby's new magnet-themed puzzle game Magnetis. While the game has a great funky aesthetic and gameplay concept, a few glaring issues keep the game from pulling you all the way in.

The basic gameplay is very simple, and admittedly a great idea. Two tiles fall from a central shaft above a conveyor belt that you control with the arrow keys on your keyboard. The tiles can be a left- or right-facing magnet, or gray box. The goal is to make chains between two magnets that are facing each other. The more gray boxes you can put in between those magnets, the longer the chain.

For a lonely shepherd in a normal world, seeing a mechanical bird seemingly preying on your flock must be a terrifying experience. It certainly was for the hero in Alchemia, which is why he killed it. But it turns out that even mechanical birds have souls. And so the hero and the bird set out on a quest to find a new body for its soul to inhabit in the wonderful web-based adventure Alchemia.

It's hard to believe that anyone could be a hero while running a space station, but I guess if Commander Sisko of Deep Space Nine can do it, then why can't we? Kaloki Adventure, an iPhone simulation game from Ninja Bee, puts aside the typical space ship riding hero and his band of alien crew and has you playing a simple space outpost manager destiny for great things.

Your journey into Kaloki Adventure's exciting world of space station management begins with a basic tutorial and then a couple of easy missions to test your new skills. At first, it will seem like everything is just going swimmingly, when all of a sudden the Princess of Galactic Empire is kidnapped and you must use your amazing new skills to come to her rescue.

Escape the Museum 2 Review

When I first sat down to play Gogii Games' Escape the Museum 2 I was expecting to have to, well, escape a museum. Again. And I wasn't terribly thrilled about it. I mean, how many games can you make about escaping an earthquake-ravaged museum before the premise starts to feel contrived and repetitive? I think the answer is probably "one." Imagine my delight upon discovering that the follow-up to Escape the Museum isn't about getting out of a museum at all, but rather about a father heroically making his way through disaster-torn streets in the aftermath of the quake towards the museum to save his trapped family - in other words, a totally different spin on the same theme!
