Scratches: Director's Cut is a horror game, but not the kind that relies on cheap scares to spook players. Instead, it depends on atmosphere and subtle details to unnerve, and, despite a few stumbles along the way, it does a great job.

The game stars Michael Arthate, a horror author struggling to finish his second novel. In an attempt to isolate himself from the world and complete his book, he takes up residence in a large estate in a small, rural town in England. Unfortunately for him, the house has a long, dark history involving a grizzly murder by a crazed husband. Eventually he gets tangled up in a story that could've been ripped from one of his novels, which all begins when he starts hearing noises around the house: the titular scratches.

Tell us about yourself and what you do at Fugazo.

My official title is CEO but if you asked me three weeks ago I would have told you that what mostly did was game design. I was the game designer for our first eight games: Fashion Fits, Cooking Academy, World Mosaics, Fishco, Cooking Academy 2, Flower Paradise, World Mosaics 2, and Kitchen Brigade.

Most games in the building sim genre offer players a variety of different maps and scenarios to play, but cerasus.media's upcoming Build It! Miami Beach Resort is trying something a little different: In it, players continue to work on the same map for more than 60 years as the city becomes bigger and bigger.

The goal, as the title implies, is to build a thriving resort on Miami Beach while completing the challenges that are assigned within each level. You'll begin in the year 1920 with simple bungalows, and advance year by year (each level is a new year) to the 1970s. Through the decades you'll add things like art deco hotels, cinemas, the first fast-food diner, and even giant hotels right on the beach.

Hostile Makeover is a hidden object game based off Ellen Byerrum's chick-lit mystery novel and the Lifetime television movie by the same name. While the twisty plot is heavily inspired by both, the game's storyline takes off in a few new directions of its own.

Like the book and movie, the game's protagonist is sassy Lacey Smithsonian, a fashion reporter and writer for the Eye Street Observer. When someone starts shooting bullets instead of photos, Lacey becomes a witness to murder. The victim, Amanda Manville, was a popular model and fashion designer with her fair share of enemies.
