Text Twist 2 Review

A sequel to one of the most popular (and most often imitated) word games of all time, Text Twist 2 introduces some new modes to its simple yet addictive gameplay formula, but it's not enough to keep the title from feeling strangely barebones.

The premise is simple: at the beginning of each round you're given a set of letters (six, seven or eight depending on which setting you've chosen) and you have to make as many words out of those letters as possible within the two-minute time limit. Words that contain every available letter are called BINGOs, and you must score at least one BINGO per round to advance to the next one.

We've heard of crimes of passion before, but crimes of fashion? Big Blue Bubble is working on a hidden object game that fuses crime-solving with the world of high fashion in Masters of Mystery: Crime of Fashion.

According to Big Blue Bubble:

The fashion world is turned upside down when Detective Carrie Chase discovers that a famous fashion designer has been murdered. She soon comes to the frightening realization that a serial killer is at large with an eye for design and a thirst for murder.

The game will feature 15 photo-realistic environments, more than 400 different objects, and 4 tools to help in your search.

Puppies are adorable but a lot of work, and owning one isn't a decision that anyone should rush into. If you want a little taste of what it's like to own a dog without the mess, chewed furniture or expensive vet bills, check out Pokey!, a Facebook application by Bonehead Labs that lets you adopt a virtual puppy to live on your profile page.

You'll start by choosing which breed to adopt (there are nine in total, including black lab, Chihuahua and Rottweiler), deciding whether you want a boy or girl, giving your puppy a name, then taking it "home."

iPhone Friday: The Price is Right

In its 35-year run as a top game show on TV, The Price is Right has been taken to every conceivable game platform that exists – the PC, console, the Web and mobile phone, to name a few.

Now, Ludia and Freemantle Media have launched The Price is Right for the iPhone. This iPhone version is as true to the original TV show as possible for a touch-screen mobile device. Whether this is a good or bad thing depends on how big a fan of the TV show you are.

In developing this game, Ludia obviously watched thousands of hours of the TV show to get the game experience right.

Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst marked a turning point in the MCF series that saw its tone shift from light-hearted crimefighting romp to something decidedly deeper, darker and more supernatural. In a nice show of symmetry, Mystery Case Files: Return to Ravenhearst, the fifth MCF game, is not only a return but also a second turning point that takes the series away from a hidden object focus and towards a full-fledged point-and-click adventure.
