EA SPORTS PGA TOUR Golf Challenge Review

Jan 12, 2011, 10:37am

4.5

Taking a cue from last year's earlier Tiger Woods' PGA Tour Online but ditching the series' ill-starred club-swinger for a safer anonymous title, EA comes pretty close to making the perfect Facebook golf game with EA Sports PGA Tour Challenge. Whereas previous EA Facebook games like Madden and FIFA Superstars focused on management at the expense of actual play, PGA Tour Challenge places golf at front-and-center thanks to the increasingly popular Unity engine. Fans of the browser-based Tiger Woods game may bristle somewhat at PGA Tour Challenge's simplified gameplay mechanics, but most casual users will enjoy the quick daily challenges and leaderboards that this new outings brings to the green.

LEGO Star Wars: The Quest for R2-D2 Review

If you were to stop me on the street and tell me that someone had created a LEGO Star Wars browser-game that was completely free, took hours to complete, and was even better than the originals, I would have laughed until I fell down. And yet here I am, realizing how ridiculous these claims must sound, about to tell you these very same things.

Puzzle Bloom Review

Mar 5, 2010, 9:11pm

3.5

If Puzzle Bloom’s dystopian workplace is to be believed the future is a bleak, depressing place. Large hulking monsters are enslaved into work camps surrounded by rock and mud. Robot supervisors keep them working around the clock. There’s not a corner of greenery left in this sad, ugly future. Not until you get there, that is. It’s time to take back the future for Mother Nature. It’s time for Puzzle Bloom.

Extreme Sledding Review

Feb 22, 2010, 11:03am

2.5

Downhill sledding can be an exhilarating experience, if you like high speeds, snowy thrills, and chilly weather. But for those of us who prefer to avoid the cold and stay out of harm's way, digital snowbound mayhem will suffice as a warmer, safer substitute. Muse Games' Extreme Sledding certainly offers some virtual tree-lined slopes to haphazardly zip down on a rusty toboggan. Whether or not the game's small handful of levels will deliver anything more than a few fleeting moments of fun really depends on how bored you are.

Perspective is an interesting thing. In the real world we tend to view things as three dimensional. Objects are real. They have depth. They have texture. We can touch and feel them. We're also used to the idea of a two dimensional world. Paintings. Literature. All of these things are flat, and all of these things are familiar. But what about the dimensions we so rarely explore? What about the fourth dimension? In Sophie Houlden's recently released mind-bending puzzler BoxGame, you're going to have to think about thinks in a perspective that will rock you right out of your comfort zone, and we love it.
