While more and more companies are making a bigger push towards mobile lately, few developers who grew up in the PC casual market have completely abandoned the idea of desktop gaming. A surprising post on the PlayFirst forums, however, suggests that the house of Flo may have done just that.

PlayFirst is kicking things up a notch with its popular game, Cooking Dash. The publisher has announced that it's teaming up with HSN to provide an update for the iOS version of the game that will give players a new restaurant and an avatar of celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse.

Over the last year or so, we’ve done a fair bit of reporting on the importance of diversification in the casual games market. The days when a developer can rely solely on the profits of PC games, it would seem, have more or less come to an end. PlayFirst seemed to recognize this earlier than anyone else, and quickly jumped into the emerging mobile games market three years ago, putting Diner Dash on the App Store shortly after it first launched.

A little over a month ago Playfirst announced that the Facebook version of Diner Dash would be shutting down for good. And now the day is finally here.

The Facebook iteration of Diner Dash may have been one of our favorite games on the platform, but today developer Playfirst has announced that the game will be closing down at the end of next month.

Flo is about as multi-talented as a person can be. She’s helped run restaurants and hotels and even catered a wedding or two. And, for some reason, that experience makes her qualified to run a zoo, as well. Or maybe it’s the fact that running a zoo in DinerTown Zoo is so ridiculously simple that anyone is qualified. Either way, Flo’s debut in a social-style mobile game doesn’t reach the level of quality that DinerTown series is known for.

If there is one thing about Dash games and their storylines that makes you either hate or love them it’s that they are incredibly cheesy, and Hotel Dash 2: Lost Luxuries is no exception. The sequel to Hotel Dash makes you wonder just how many festivals and lost or run-down hotels/restaurants/etc. can exist in one modestly-sized town, and how quickly Mr. Big changed from a major villain to a sweet grandpa figure for Flo and her gang.
