    There are a lot of amazing card games on the App Store. As one of the millions of players currently nursing a Hearthstone addiction, this shouldn't come as news to you. But like most games on the App Store, after a brief few weeks as every gamer's new best friend, some classics are instantly forgotten about. Such has been the case for Summoner Wars - quite possibly my favorite App Store card game, yet it lost all its luster when everybody else abandoned it. Such is the story for most multiplayer games.But is the Summoner Wars community about to get a second lease on life? Thanks to today's Android launch - and cross-platform support - all signs point to yes.

    Playdek launches Kickstarter campaign to bring Matsuno’s Unsung Story to PC and Mac

    There's no question that Yasumi Matsuno has become one of the most prominent names in the genre of RPG tactics games at large, with his past work designing such iconic titles as Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story. So when Matsuno teamed up with renowned mobile publisher Playdek for a brand new game experience, well you can bet your sweet tactics that gamers were more than a little excited!In fact, the overwhelming fan response that followed the announcement of Matsuno and Pladek's first game together, Unsung Story, has prompted the team to turn to Kickstarter today for additional crowdfunding support, with the primary goal being to raise the $600,000 needed to bring the game to PC and Mac platforms in 2015."In addition , Playdek and Matsuno have also established some stretch goals beyond the initial $600,000, which would allow them to bring the game to even more platforms like the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS. Other stretch goals hope to expand the creative design team to include composer Hitoshi Sakimoto and translators Alexander Smith and Joseph Reeder.Unsung Story takes players into the breathtaking fantasy realm of Rasfalia, which is teeming with just as many wizards and creatures as it is with hidden secrets to uncover and forgotten legends to learn. While the game is currently set for release at some point in 2015, the new Kickstarter campaign has just gone live today, which you can view and donate to by clicking right over here.

    Board games today are so much more than the simple Parker Brothers games of our youth. Moving pieces around squares with the occasional twist is where most of us start our cardboard-and-plastic careers, but it's hardly where it ends for the hardcore enthusiast.It's strange that Lords of Waterdeep feels like exactly that. With the Dungeons and Dragons brand behind it you might envision stat sheets, character creation, inventory management - that's what I expected, anyway. Rather, it's more Monopoly by way of Game of Thrones than 2nd Edition AD&D.Waterdeep goes decidedly off-brand almost immediately. You don't play as a determined adventurer, winding your way through one of the many D&D universes with a light purse and a heavy hammer. Completing adventures is beneath you. As a lord of the titular city, you make adventures happen.

    One step backwards, two steps forwards - that the kind of month it's been for Playdek.  It was only days ago that the company announced it would no longer be partnering with Stone Blade Entertainment - the tabletop games company whose mobile ports Playdek has built their reputation on.  And while that seemingly spelled a troubled future for the company, today's announcement handily snuffs out any such concerns.

    Stone Blade Entertainment has announced they will be launching a short, 10-day Kickstarter campaign on February 18to bring their vision of Playdek's iOS Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer app to Android and PC platforms. What's surprising about this news is that SolForge, Stone Blade's first in-house collaborative effort with the Magic: The Gathering creators, hasn't even been released yet, after nearly doubling its $250,000 Kickstarter goal back in September.

    Back at E3 2012, we interviewed Playdeck, the digital board gaming company. The big thing they were focusing on at the time was building an empire of digital board games - enough to spark an entire community of online gamers. With their newest Gen Con announcement, it looks like they're right on track for fulfilling that goal. In addition to sale prices on all of their games, they've announced not one, not two, but three new digital adaptations coming soon for iOS.

    So, remember how we just told you about Playdek adapting Nightfall into an iOS game? Well it seems the company doesn't plan to stop there, as they've also announced a new partnership with GMT Games that will see the Commands & Colors franchise making its way to mobile devices as well.
