We cover plenty of new games here at Gamezebo every week, but the number of games we’ve already covered that show up on new platforms? It’s staggering. Starting this Wednesday and continuing every week, we’ll be rounding up the games that aren’t quite new, but might be new to you depending on your platform of choice.

Arcane Legends Preview

May 22, 2012, 3:29pm

If there’s one word that can be used to sum up Spacetime Studios, it’s “legendary.” After all, what else would you call the team behind games with names like Pocket Legends, Star Legends, and Dark Legends? Ok – maybe you could call them “productive” too. After all, only a few months out from the launch of Dark Legends, they’ve just announced their fourth release: Arcane Legends.

Fieldrunners 2 Preview

May 22, 2012, 12:05pm

Fieldrunners is a game that holds a special place in my heart. When I bought an iPod Touch back in 2008 right after the App Store launched, it was the first game I downloaded. And as a tower defense fan, I fell in love. Since that time though, its developer has seemed content to do little more than port their game to new device after new device (and release the occasional update), with little in the way of a sequel announcement. But today, all of that changed.

Witch Wars Review

May 22, 2012, 10:40am

I’m a big fan of match-3 games. Then again, who isn’t? But despite their universal appeal, there haven’t been many match-3 games that genre fanatics can play together. Witch Wars bucks that trend by creating a competitive multiplayer match-3 experience that’s every bit as engrossing as the solo games that have come before it.

King.com announces new London-based studio

May 21, 2012, 3:39pm

If you haven’t heard of King.com yet, you must not be playing Facebook games in 2012. The company has shot through the ranks to become a top competitor in the social games space recently, duking it out with the likes of Zynga and wooga on a daily basis. With such meteoric success, it’s no surprise to hear that the company is expanding. They’ve just announced a new London-based studio, and they’ve tapped a pretty notable name in social games to head it up.

Royal Detective: Lord of Statues Preview

May 21, 2012, 1:09pm

Fine art can be a mighty fine thing, and amongst the fine arts, sculpture stands out as a particularly unique medium. Some say that a sculptor doesn’t merely chisel away at rock to create a shape, he chips away the excess to reveal the form underneath. To breathe life into it, as it were. But in the upcoming Royal Detective: Lord of Statues, it looks like someone has taken that idea a little too literally.

Has Activision changed its tune on mobile?

May 21, 2012, 12:14pm

While every major publisher and their kin seemed eager to jump into the gold rush that was mobile gaming in the last few years, Activision has been one of the few major names to remain somewhat standoffish. So much so that in December 2010, Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick said: “we don't view the App Store as a really big opportunity for dedicated games … we don't see an opportunity for us to participate in that market.” But a lot can change in 18 months.

May 18, 2012, 1:19pm

With the warm weather upon us, the Gamezebo crew can’t help but want to get outdoors. And what better way to get outdoors than with a little travel? As such, Gamezebo will be on the floor at not one, not two, but three events in the coming weeks. Are you a developer that’s attending these events who’d like to meet with Gamezebo? Good. Here’s how:

The Journey Down: Chapter One Review

May 18, 2012, 6:34am

4

As an adventure game, The Journey Down: Chapter One hits all the right notes. It has plenty of charm and character, a mysterious story, an unlikely hero that gets wrapped up in things he doesn’t understand, and puzzles that offer a perfect level of challenge, delivering a deeply satisfying “a-ha!” moment when solved. Oh – and did we mention that the game wraps all of this up in a uniquely African aesthetic?

Zombie Swipeout Preview

May 17, 2012, 3:01pm

If there’s anyone you’d trust to make a great zombie game, it’s a pair of doctors involved in genome research. That’s who’s behind The Game Doctors – the indie mobile studio that brought the world Zombie Smash back in 2010. Now a part of the Zynga team, the doctors are following up their castle defense classic with something a little more slash-happy.
