There are two very good reasons to grow your own vegetables. One, It’s satisfying to eat food that you’ve planted, raised, and picked yourself. Two, you can grow stupidly huge tomatoes and show them off to your neighbors. Even FarmVille 2 is set to grant you bragging rights with the County Fair, a new weekly event that lets players put their best crops on display.

The FarmVille franchise is really going places. First it was announced that FarmVille 2 is coming to mobile, and now it’s been revealed that a FarmVille show is in the works. Even crazier, Brett Ratner (director of films like Red Dragon, X-Men: The Last Stand, and the Rush Hour series) is the man in charge of producing it.

Zynga revealed in an earnings call today their intent to bring FarmVille 2—amongst other franchises—over to mobile. This is meant to be the first step in a pivotal change for the company, and according to Inside Social Games, CEO Mark Pincus also announced that Zynga will be adopting a “mobile first focus” for the future.

Farm life may seem mundane and predictable from the outside looking in, but it can actually be rather exciting. Sometimes the animals wreak havoc; other times a guy named Gus shows up looking for help with his romantic life. Wait, that second one may be exclusive to FarmVille 2.

Even if you don't play farm sims, chances are you've received an abundance of Facebook requests from friends who do. It matters not that you've only met Tim once -- if you can aid him in his quest for virtual crop dominance, the two of you could become the best of friends. FarmVille has in many ways been the poster child of this craze, as evidenced by its massive user base and licensed ice cream. And now, with the launch of FarmVille 2, Zynga is hoping to deliver the final blow to the seams that hold the requests section of your Facebook profile together.

Well folks, it looks like the rumors were true. Just as we’d predicted, the game that was masquerading in the Phillipines as Big Harvest earlier this year is in fact FarmVille 2. Zynga confirmed this earlier today at their annual Zynga Unleashed press event with a teaser trailer showing video that matches up with the Big Harvest screens that were making the rounds back in May.
