    When Gamezebo founder Joel Brodie and I went to meet with GREE's VP of Product Ethan Fassett at Casual Connect, I was under the impression that we'd be there to talk about the obvious: the "GREE Platform." The mega-dev's publishing platform has just entered open beta, and without sounding too jaded, events like Casual Connect often serve as soapboxes from which to chat about their latest initiatives, per the party line.

    Facebook App Center goes live, could teach Apple a thing or two

    Early last month, we reported that Facebook was prepped and ready to launch their very own directory to help users navigate the chaotic waters of the site's many apps and games. At the time, there was no formal word however on whether "prepped and ready" meant launch was four weeks, or four months away. Today - almost exactly one month since the reveal - Facebook flipped the switch on App Center.

    Developers rejoice! Gamers rejoice! Rejoicers? Well, you already beat us to the punch, but I guess we'll let you join in anyway. A little social network you may have heard of named Facebook announced earlier today the long awaited introduction of a formal platform for app and game discovery. Dubbed the "App Center," Facebook's centralized marketplace looks to take the black hole that is the company's apps catalogue and bring to it much needed order.

    Apple takes a bite out of Chomp to solve its app discovery problem

    Chomp was created to be acquired by Apple. One, the company is named Chomp, meaning that in the event of being bought by Apple, journalists like myself would have a field day with the puns (hence, my clever title). Two, Chomp's product is a Google for apps, for iOS and, more recently, Android.Given the challenges of finding apps in Apple's increasingly burgeoing App Store, it only seems natural to learn that Apple has acquired Chomp (as initially reported by Techcrunch) to the tune of $50 million.
