    I hate giving bad news right before the weekend, but I'm afraid I have no choice: Age of Empires Online, a relatively new free-to-play RTS, will no longer be receiving new content. But there's a bit of good news, as well! Developer Gas Powered Games intends to keep supporting the game with bug fixes, contests, PvP tournaments, and more. See? Always a bright side.

    After listening to fan concerns about the game, Age of Empires Online creator Gas Powered Games and publisher Microsoft have, in their own words, "embraced [the] true free to play model" through a major summer update. And while that may sound a little cultish at first, I promise you, it involves less ritual suicide, and more free stuff.

    Growing up in a house where daddy's job is all about video games, my two daughters really couldn't avoid the fun of digital play even if they wanted to. As a parent, that means a lot of time is spent searching the recesses of my mind trying to think of games that are not only age appropriate, but genuinely fun. On a lark, this meant stopping by my local games shop last week to pick up a copy of Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise for the Xbox 360.
