Marvel Heroes Preview

May 23, 2012, 1:03pm

There are a few phrases out there that must be carefully muttered in front of videogame fanboys and fangirls. Say any of these phrases too loudly, and said fans will deteriorate into a screaming and frothing husk of what used to be a human being: Marvel. Diablo. Free-to-play MMO. Today, we must warn you, all three of these sacred words must be muttered in order to describe Marvel Heroes. Commence the screaming.

Arcane Legends Preview

May 22, 2012, 3:29pm

If there’s one word that can be used to sum up Spacetime Studios, it’s “legendary.” After all, what else would you call the team behind games with names like Pocket Legends, Star Legends, and Dark Legends? Ok – maybe you could call them “productive” too. After all, only a few months out from the launch of Dark Legends, they’ve just announced their fourth release: Arcane Legends.

Diablo III Review

May 21, 2012, 11:01am

4.5

Here at Gamezebo, we review what are usually referred to as “casual” games. Despite the fact that we’re constantly looking behind the scenes for a better name to describe the emerging wave of quick and accessible videogames, a simple fact stands: the games we review a vast majority of the time are going to be in the $20 and lower price range and are aimed at a general audience. So why, you might ask, am I reviewing a full-priced hardcore sequel to a game from 2000?

KOTOMON Review

May 17, 2012, 8:55pm

1.5

When Kotomon hit the App Store, I literally jumped at the chance to review it. And if I didn’t, you certainly can’t prove otherwise. A game boasting dancing, monsters, and shooting from key members behind Q Entertainment’s iconic titles Rez and Lumines? Where do I sign up!? Yet our fearless Editor-in-Chief Jim was a little skeptical: “I’ve come to realize that ‘from the makers of...’ always spells disaster on iOS.” Oh well, what does he know? I thought, hitting “buy.” A lot, as it turns out.

FIST OF AWESOME Preview

May 17, 2012, 2:11pm

Most of the time it’s frowned upon to write things IN ALL CAPS. Most people like to interpret that as yelling, and no one really enjoys being yelled at. – especially when someone is yelling about a completely trivial thing that in no way even sort of requires raising your voice. Conversely, some things just don’t feel right unless they’re expressed in a certain manner. If I told you the title of an upcoming iOS retro brawler was Fist of Awesome, you’d probably forget it ten seconds later. But if I instead told you that its name was FIST OF AWESOME, you’re going to remember that forever and immediately start throwing money at your iPhone.

Ravensword 2 Preview

May 16, 2012, 11:25am

Three years is a long time to wait for a follow-up to a hit mobile game, but in the case of Ravensword 2 it may very well be worth it. Screenshots of the upcoming iOS action-RPG are absolutely stunning, as the game takes full advantage of new technology like multi-core CPUs and Retina displays to generate the kind of visuals you'd expect to see from a contemporary console RPG.

MANOS: The Hands of Fate Preview

May 15, 2012, 1:24pm

Remember the good old days of videogames where every media franchise under the sun was turned into a videogame, whether or not it made any sense at all? Videosgames didn’t need a reason to exist, bringing about wonderful moments like townsfolk trying to kill Marty in Back to the Future, and Darth Vader turning into a scorpion in Star Wars.

FreakZone asks the dangerous question: what if this thinking was applied to one of the worst movies of all time?

Rollabear Preview

May 14, 2012, 5:26pm

What do you get when you combine Samus Aran’s morph ball with a bear? While these two entities would likely never co-exist, we’d like to think that the end result would look a little like Matmi’s upcoming iOS and Android title, Rollabear.

Acme Planetary Defense Review

May 13, 2012, 1:46pm

3.5

Most of us, when we hear the word "acme," skip the dictionary definition and make a mental beeline straight for the misadventures of Wile E. Coyote. At first glance, the connection between the mischievous character and Acme Planetary Defense - the new shooter from Taptoon Games - is tenuous at best, consisting only of the fact that your upgrades and resources are delivered in iconic crates. A little hands on time with the colorful, chaotic shooter however, reveals a game that would do the Looney Toons proud.
