Broken Sword 2: The Smoking Mirror Review

4 Stars

Broken Sword 2: The Smoking Mirror is a point-and-click adventure from Revolution Studios that was first released back in 1997 for PlayStation 2 and Windows PC but is now available as a download. Great characters, a good story, clever dialog, and superb voice-acting help make up for inconsistent puzzles, some of which are good and some are boring.  The second game in the Broken Sword series, this is definitely worth a try if you like character-driven adventures. Something Special is an upbeat, romantic comedy hidden object game by Brighter Minds Media. Quilting Time Review

2 and half Stars

If you want something different than your typical time management – hidden object – match 3 game, than maybe you should take up quilting...in a game, of course. Enchanted Katya and the Mystery of the Lost Wizard Review

Enchanted Katya and the Mystery of the Lost Wizard is technically a time management and hidden object blend, although you'll find far more time management than hidden object tasks. 3 Days: Zoo Mystery Review

3 and half Stars

I thought I knew what to expect from 3 Days: Zoo Mystery. Same old cartoon panel storytelling, same inoffensive “cheap greeting card” art style, and the same overhead map with multiple locations to visit. Everything about Zoo Mystery’s presentation screams "just another HOG." Everything, that is, except the actual gameplay. Read more»

Drugstore Mania Review

1 and half Stars

GFI brings us yet another Cake Mania reincarnation with Drugstore Mania, a time management game that has you running around a pharmacy filling prescriptions for moon-eyed, cartoonish customers who honestly look like they don’t need any more drugs.  With tons of flowers and strange giggling, Drugstore Mania will have you wondering if you took something before you started playing the game. Cleopatra: Riddle of the Tomb Review

3 and half Stars

A truly good puzzle is a rare thing. It has to be challenging but fair, with a solution that is isn’t immediately evident but instead deducible only by those who buckle down and set their minds to it.

Cleopatra: Riddle of the Tomb, a traditional point-and-click adventure, has many conundrums of this sort; puzzles that have the potential to break the brains of both rookie players and seasoned solvers, but become obvious to all once they are finally understood. Unfortunately, it also has a number of seemingly unreasonable riddles the answers to which remain opaque even after the puzzle has been successfully solved. Read more»

Pahelika: Secret Legends Review

3 and half Stars

Sometimes it feels like the creators of adventure games are working against you. Their games are filled with puzzles whose solutions are so obtuse, you begin to feel like they actually want you to fail. The same cannot be said for the designers of Pahelika: Secret Legends. While the puzzles are still pretty tricky, it's obvious that the game's creators want you to succeed and enjoy yourself – which you more than likely will. Read more»

Laura Jones and the Secret Legacy of Nikola Tesla Review

3 Stars

Laura Jones and the Gates of Good and Evil was one of the first games to combine hidden object gameplay with inventory puzzles and mini-games. Nowadays, though, such games are commonplace so it takes something more to impress and stand out from the crowd. Laura Jones and the Secret Legacy of Nikola Tesla is neither the worst, nor the best “hidden object adventure game” that we’ve seen lately. Read more»
