World Train Royale Review

Don't judge a book by its cover. This saying, along with the ability to be patient, should be kept in mind when it comes to World Train Royale, a new game by developer versus-software. The combination of match-3, time management, and tycoon elements surely sounds promising, but as always the mixture of different genres can be a tricky case. While the game is far from perfect, players who enjoy details and a real challenge might still get hooked on it easily.

Constellation Review

If we were to trace casual games back to their roots, then we would certainly come across old standbys like Reversi or Bejeweled. These were games that didn't try to pretend they were anything more than fun, simple diversions. But as history has shown, just because they were simple, didn't mean they were without merit. Constellation, from indie house PaperDragon Games, sets out to prove this same ideal, with pretty decent success.

Fishdom: Spooky Splash Review

The first Fishdom game made a splash with challenging match-3 gameplay and fishtank decorating, while the sequel, Fishdom H2O, switched over to hidden object gameplay. Both games were well-received by players, but match-3 fans will be happy to know that Fishdom: Spooky Splash has gone back to its match-3 roots. Like the first Fishdom, Spooky Splash has you swapping tiles and earning cash to decorate Halloween-themed fish tanks.

Sally's Quick Clips Review

Sally's Quick Clips is a fast paced match-3 game that has you gathering resources to serve beauty salon clients. The game takes place before the events of Sally's Salon and Sally's Spa, although the gameplay mechanics are very different.

With a series of successful salons and spas behind her, Sally has the urge to remember her roots. It all started when she had just gotten her beauty degree, and decided to compete on a game show called Styling America. As you play through her flashbacks, you learn how she got her first big break.

Zuma's Revenge! Review

When you're working on a sequel to a game that has sold more than 17 million copies worldwide, you must strike that perfect balance between not messing with the winning formula yet also adding enough new features to justify the purchase.

How did PopCap Games fare with the follow-up to 2003's Zuma?

Very well, but the savvy game makers erred on the side of caution by staying true to what made the original game an extraordinary success - rather than attempting to deliver something different. If you're a Zuma fan and want more of the same, this great-looking follow-up will provide many hours of ball-bursting fun, but those expecting something fresh might feel PopCap dropped that ball.

BumbleTales Review

If match-three games suffer from a single flaw, it's that most of them don't give you a reason for your efforts beyond achieving a higher score. BumbleTales takes a slightly different approach: Instead of trying to rise to the top of a leader board, you're helping restore a community.

Brainiversity 2 Review

Like the second volume of a textbook, 3 Blokes Studios has created another series of gray-matter exercises with Brainiversity 2. They've learned a little bit from their first outing, and added some new games to the routine.

Brain training games really exploded when Nintendo released Brain Age for the Nintendo DS. It was a series of games that purportedly made your brain stronger by "exercising" different parts through targeted activities. Since then, there have been many different brain-training games from different studios. The first Brainiversity was a decent collection of games that had all the trimmings of a brain training game: a cute mascot, trackable progress and a nice selection of 16 games.
