Slingo Supreme 2 Review

Posted 6 hours, 1 minute ago

2.5

Developer Funkitron has built its name on Slingo and has released a number of successful Slingo titles. Personally, the pure slots-plus-bingo idea never interested me much, but I became a convert once Funkitron began incorporating adventure-style elements into the games. The company's latest release, Slingo Supreme 2 ignores the adventure aspect, however, and returns to the pure Slingo format, doubling down on the number of powerups and minigames. Sadly, this is one of those times where bigger isn't necessarily better.

Tower of Fortune Review

Posted 6 hours, 52 minutes ago

People in the know tend to describe the average slots player as a chain-smoking woman in her mid-50s. The demographic that enjoys RPGs tends be viewed as young, with more... shall we say, testosterone. And yet, Game Stew Studio has managed to blend those two elements seamlessly to make Tower of Fortune; an iPhone app where gambling is really an adventure.

SQUIDS Wild West Preview

May 23, 2012, 4:18pm

In the world of sequel tropes, the wild west is an oft-ignored setting. More often than not we see a leap to space, or a trip to Manhattan – neither of which possess the same level of romance as the gun-totin' west. Does this mean SQUIDS Wild West, the upcoming sequel to the highly popular SQUIDS, will be the most romantic squid-based game of all time? One can only hope.

You want to play a game with your friend, but it turns out he or she is not in possession of an iDevice. One reaction would be to call them a peasant. The other, to fire up Ring Fling – a local multiplayer game that requires but one iDevice.

Marvel Heroes Preview

May 23, 2012, 1:03pm

There are a few phrases out there that must be carefully muttered in front of videogame fanboys and fangirls. Say any of these phrases too loudly, and said fans will deteriorate into a screaming and frothing husk of what used to be a human being: Marvel. Diablo. Free-to-play MMO. Today, we must warn you, all three of these sacred words must be muttered in order to describe Marvel Heroes. Commence the screaming.

Haunting Mysteries: The Island of Lost Souls Review

May 23, 2012, 12:17pm

3

Haunting Mysteries: Island of Lost Souls throws you into the world of paranormal adventure in a fairly standard hidden object game setup. You’ll travel throughout the game’s many dark, gloomy locations, interacting with ghosts, completing hidden object scenes and puzzles, and trying to ensure your own escape along the way. The storyline here is clichéd yet interesting, and the ease of difficulty should be a welcome element for those looking for an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon.

Zombie Farm 2 Review

May 23, 2012, 8:31am

3.5

Back in 2010, there was an iOS app that challenged a Farmville-crazed nation with a bold proclamation: why just grow plants when you can grow plants and invading zombies? These worlds came from the proud mouths of Playforge, and their eventual multi-million-download app, Zombie Farm. Two years later, amidst rumors of Zynga stepping their farm up to a second version, it’s Playforge’s turn to beat them to the punch. Introducing Zombie Farm 2.

Mobbles Preview

May 22, 2012, 3:48pm

You know what's a fun word to say? Mobbles. Coincidentally, it's also the name of a game! Arriving on Android and iOS on May 30, Mobbles (still fun to say) is best described as Tamagotchi with attitude. Whereas the original virtual pets did little more than hop around and drop poo everywhere, the creatures in Mobbles (which are also called Mobbles (Mobbles!)) adopt more exciting habits. Like skateboarding!

Arcane Legends Preview

May 22, 2012, 3:29pm

If there’s one word that can be used to sum up Spacetime Studios, it’s “legendary.” After all, what else would you call the team behind games with names like Pocket Legends, Star Legends, and Dark Legends? Ok – maybe you could call them “productive” too. After all, only a few months out from the launch of Dark Legends, they’ve just announced their fourth release: Arcane Legends.

Fieldrunners 2 Preview

May 22, 2012, 12:05pm

Fieldrunners is a game that holds a special place in my heart. When I bought an iPod Touch back in 2008 right after the App Store launched, it was the first game I downloaded. And as a tower defense fan, I fell in love. Since that time though, its developer has seemed content to do little more than port their game to new device after new device (and release the occasional update), with little in the way of a sequel announcement. But today, all of that changed.

Witch Wars Review

May 22, 2012, 10:40am

I’m a big fan of match-3 games. Then again, who isn’t? But despite their universal appeal, there haven’t been many match-3 games that genre fanatics can play together. Witch Wars bucks that trend by creating a competitive multiplayer match-3 experience that’s every bit as engrossing as the solo games that have come before it.
