Tales of Monkey Island: Ch. 1 - Launch of the Screaming Narwhal

You might not be old enough to remember the fun - and funny - pirate-themed Monkey Island computer games that debuted in the early '90s from LucasArts, but if you enjoy challenging puzzles, memorable characters and a treasure chest full of humor, be sure to download the first all-new adventure in many years.

Telltale Games, in partnership with LucasArts, has just launched Tales of Monkey Island, distributed digitally in playable monthly "episodes" for Windows PCs (reviewed here) and via WiiWare for the Nintendo Wii console. The first in the 5-part series, Tales of Monkey Island: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal is now available for download.

Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 2 - The Siege of Spinner Cay

The saga of mighty pirate Guybrush Threepwood continues in this second chapter of the Tales of Monkey Island series, which takes place directly after the events of the previous game. And though The Siege of Spinner Cay plays and looks identical to the first game in the series, it ends up being a much more enjoyable experience thanks to some clever -- and very funny -- writing and much more intuitive puzzles.

Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 3 - Lair of the Leviathan

While the previous two chapters in the continuing saga of Mighty Pirate Guybrush Threepwood all took place either at sea or on land, the third chapter of Tales of Monkey Island goes somewhere completely unexpected: inside of a giant manatee. That's right, the majority of Threepwood's latest outing Lair of the Leviathan takes place inside of a hapless sea creature, which makes for plenty of amusing situations, in what is easily the best entry in the series to date.

Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 4

It was bound to happen eventually. After releasing three increasingly wonderful episodes, the Tales of Monkey Island series has finally taken a step back. Now that's not to say that Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 4 - The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood is bad -- far from it in fact -- it's just that, for the first time, the latest entry in the series isn't the best.

Tales of Monkey Island: Chapter 5 - Rise of the Pirate God

After four chapters, the moment we've all been waiting for has finally arrived. The fifth and final chapter in the Tales of Monkey Island series wraps up the epic story arc that's been building over the past few months, but not necessarily in the most satisfying manner. It's not that this installment is sub par, but after all of the build-up leading up to this finale, the actual ending is a touch disappointing.
