    Pocket Jump: Ooga God is a game with two feet firmly planted in the past. It's the latest installment in the venerable Pocket God franchise: a mobile brand that once touted countless followers, cool toys, and even a few great comic books. Ooga Jump is also a vertical jumper whose mechanics bear an uncanny resemblance to Doodle Jump, one of the first real hits on the App Store dating back to 2009.It's a familiar brand exploring even more familiar gameplay. I just can't figure out why. That's not to say that Ooga Jump isn't a good time. If anything, it serves as a pleasant reminder that Doodle Jump's mechanics are still crazy addictive in 2013. I'm just a little dumbfounded that this is the direction that developer Bolt Creative decided to go after retiring the main game in the series, Pocket God. It feels like a step backwards.But hey - at least it's fun.

    You have to feel sorry for the Pygmies in the Pocket God universe. The poor little guys may be immortal, but they basically exist to be tortured for their gods' entertainment. Now, the Pygmies don't even have their immortality anymore, and they've got to get it back in Pocket God: The Runs.

    I've often wondered what I would do if I had god-like powers. Now that I've spent some time playing Pocket God: Journey to Uranus, I know the answer to that question. I fling worshippers into volcanoes, strike them with lightning, drag them onto strange new planets, and generally make them suffer for my amusement. In short, I'm a jerk on a power trip - and I love every minute of it.

    The term "playing god" gets thrown around a lot these days, but when was the last time you did? Pocket God slips you into the role of deity and has you oversee the life and (mostly) death struggle of a small island people. It's cute, it's charming, and it's all about squishing island folk. Get ready to do some smiting, because these pygmies need to be kept in line!
