New iOS Games Tonight: TurtleStrike, Sky Tourist and more!
Sometimes I never know what to say in these opening sentences before we get to all of the awesome looking new iOS games that are headed to the App Store each week. But luckily, whenever I find myself at a real loss of things to say, I can always fall back on the new titles instead: because they’re all usually so cool that they can easily speak for themselves! And you’ll be happy to know that tonight’s new releases look to be no different.
Tonight you’ll have your pick from playing a strategic turn-based battler with an unlikely creature at the helm, taking a tour of the sky in a wonderful meshing of genres, and even hopping on an exhilarating hydro jet for a race around the pond.
TurtleStrike – Just because they’re widely considered to be one of nature’s slowest creatures, that doesn’t mean the turtle can’t engage in some tactically intense warfare from time to time, just like any of the animal kingdom’s other most ruthless beasts! In the turn-based multiplayer strategy game TurtleStrike, players will command several squads of boxy little turtles, as they put their outer shells to use by carrying massive weaponry like rockets and catapults. With gorgeously bright visuals, swimmingly intense water-based battles, and of course, beady-eyed zombie turtles, you won’t be able to fit all of the exciting content this game has to offer underneath your outer shell!
Sky Tourist – It’s always a real treat when something fresh and exciting makes its way to the App Store, and I think Sky Tourist is easily deserving of that title this week. In the game, players will control two rising rocket ships on either side of the screen with their thumbs, as their little sky tourist Petey is suspended on a rope in between them, and going along for the ride. You’ll need to position and maneuver Petey along this rope to traverse a number of vertically scrolling platform stages, with elements of action, puzzles, and collectable items fully abound. This unique and interesting meshing of genres is only all the more enticing by its beautiful blocky cartoon art style.
Riptide GP 2 – If I ever find myself with a million dollars one day, I’d probably get around to buying a high-end hydro jet at some point, so I can race around the waters at incredible speeds and splash all of my non-millionaire friends on shore. But until then, I think Riptide GP 2 will serve as a pretty close alternative to competing in exhilarating hydro jet races: not to mention with graphics so good that I might as well be looking at a real hydro jet in the flesh! With 9 different upgradable vehicles, a varied career mode with 25 new stunts to learn and master, and a cutting-edge multiplayer component, this mobile sequel to one of the finest console-quality water racers around is sure to make some big waves tonight.
League of Mages – The first rule of League of Mages is that you don’t talk about League of Mages. Billed as a “Fight Club” of sorts, but with magical spells that you can cast with simple gestures on your mobile device, League of Mages lets players compete in exhilarating multiplayer tournaments against other wizards and witches in training, as they battle one another in challenging magical duels. With the options of setting your opponents on fire like they’re the centerpiece of a wizard barbeque, or freezing them in a giant block of ice, the game is fully prepared to give you complete control over choosing what kind of dueling mage you want to be!
