This week in gaming news: February 24, 2012

As yet another week wanes, it's time to look back and take stock of all the cool things that happened in the social and mobile games industry. For starters, I began my new position as Gamezebo's Assistant Editor, so--hi! It's very nice to be here, and thank you all (especially Jim) for putting up with me as I staggered through my first week. With that out of the way, we have news about Angry Birds Land (the Angriest Place on Earth), EA's Battlefield 3: Aftershock shame, and Justin Bieber's hatred for iOS parodies of his sparkling self.

MONDAY

• An interview with Big Daddy's Creations and the challenges that come with making digital board games.
• Speaking of big daddies,Final Fantasycreator Hironobu Sakaguchi is working on not one, but three iOS games.
• Angry Birds Land is being built as an extension on a Finnish theme park. Ready to fly face-first into a bunch of wood and glass?
• Infinity Blade Cross hits DeNA Mobage, Japan's premiere social gaming platform.

TUESDAY

• Kixeye is working on a 3D Flash RPG for web browsers, and we should see it by September.
• Japanese game publisher GREE is looking to partner up with Ubisoft and Gameloft to bring new games to North America.

WEDNESDAY

• Battlefield 3: Aftershock stank up the App Store so thoroughly that EA opted to remove the game.
• MocoSpace is launching five new HTML 5 games.

THURSDAY

• Facebook aims to work more closely with European developers.
• Zynga Bingo is now on Facebook. All the fun of Bingo without the cigarette smoke or angry old people.

FRIDAY

• Blizzard may be thinking about embracing the free-to-play formula for an unannounced game.
• Apple buys Chomp for $50 million, many apple-scarfing puns made in celebration.
• Justin Bieber's lawyer goes after Joustin' Beaver,an iOS parody of the Canadian singer. Baby, baby.
• Rovio talks to AllThingsD about the future of the company and the feathery fiends it birthed.
• The ongoing online support for Terraria is coming to an end.
• Zynga, Facebook, and others offer Game Closure a lot of money, Game Closure turns them all down.
• Chinese iOS game developer Hoolai lost half its revenue to online scams.
