  I got stuck on the sidequest where you had to do lots of little things, one of them being a lady that wanted a new hat. Could not figure out how so I gave up (and yes I built the hat store, but I must have missed something).

  to get hats, you drag the person who wants a hat to the hat shop (must be employed) and she will buy the hat automatically.  Hope this helps.

  Hi and welcome AndreaX! You get a Pirate hat after completeing both of the treasure quests. The cheese hat after building 3 butter churns (I think), the fruit hat after building 3 winerys and a grape farm, and I think you get the Chief hat after completeing the game. And I think the Spartan hat shows up after you build your first hat shop. I think there's one more hat to get, but I can't remember what it is right now.
