I am just flat-out perplexed on this level.  If I don't build up a town, I don't have enough resources and I don't have the required buildings (ie. a lumber mill in order to build a bridge)... but when I do start to build up a town, bandits come and attack my buildings, so I end up using all my resources to fix buildings.  I can't seem to get a saloon or a sheriff's station up and running fast enough, let alone when the bandits come and shoot them up.  And nevermind getting anywhere remotely close to the bandit camp!  I have looked all over the internet for a walkthrough for just this level and cannot find a darned thing to help.  (sigh)  Truly frustrated here - and any tips/tricks/hints/suggestions would be MOST appreciated.

    Hi gambitgarrison..

Here's a link to the Walkthru at the GZ. May be it helps you out...

    Good luck!

This site has a general strategy guide for playing the game and a basic walkthrough for the first half of the first town.  Beyond Oxbow Bend though, there is no walkthrough on here that I'm seeing.  But that's okay because I did figure it out (and duh! - was it ever easy) and have progressed well into Gunslinger Gulch - and am now stuck on another quest - "The White Person for the Job" that is sure to drive me even crazier than "Tornado Valley!"

You've probably already figured this out, but if you keep some hired guns or sheriff and deputies with your hero character, they will go with him on some of the challenges and you will not have to build a sheriff's office/saloon once you are there.
