I felt that it was too easy, the hidden objects were ok but the other mini games were not a challenge. I thought there was too much talking and not enough game playing. I was disappointed. Would probably not buy a sequel. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

A good story, superior voice acting (so rare) and a very nice 1920's style lift this HOG above the average. Objects seem period appropriate, and although the occasional object is a bit *too* well hidden, the hint system is generous. Some re-playability, too. Definitely one for the collection. I hope the developers make a sequel. Valerir Porter was a delight. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

I really enjoyed the demo of this game and will probably buy it with my next BFG game credit. It was creative, fun, and had a few new twists to the average HOG. Some different mini-games and the unique way one can pick up multiple items at the same time for extra points. Excellent graphics and good voice acting. I loved this one, new style, great grapnics, I would have liked a little longer but length was better than most. One I will play again, which is saying alot since I have close to 500 games and rarely play them more than once. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

I really enjoyed this game. The graphics were wonderful and the difficulty was just right. I loved the mini-games a lot. They were a lot of fun as was this game. It was one of the funner HOG I've played in a good while. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

great game! enjoyed the mini games, a good variety of them too. the objects weren't to hard to find but having to put 1 or more together to get object made it harded. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

I loved this game! It wasn't very hard but it actually had a story and humour. I loved the atomosphere. The h/o and mini game were decent enough. It just flew by for me and thoroughly entertained me. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

Decent murder mystery story, rather easy-to-find objects, quality graphics and pleasant theme music. Few innovations: the "connect multiple objects" in order to boost your Hint powerup was a fresh feature. The voice acting was pretty good (if stereotypical, but this IS a 20s-30s detective mystery during the Prohibition Era). Even though the game is played in "untimed mode" you ARE scored on time and for collecting batteries, not using hints, and for not skipping minigames. I just didn't get the point of "find the bells" (even though I found 99/100 of them). The repetitive word-based minigames were mildly challenging. The photograph focusing minigame was a bit challenging but not impossible with trial-and-error. Due to the mature themes (adultery, murder) probably NOT a game to play with younger children. All-in-all a decent pastime and worth the price, but really "nothing to see here, folks... Move along" if you want innovation in a HOG. My favorite character was the Hot Dog Vendor. I love this game, good graphics, very good voices, entertaining story, gameplay was fine, and it has nice minigames. So, why no five stars? Well, I found the game far too easy - objects were very easy to find and even for me (English is not my mother tongue as you might have noticed ;-) ) the (word) puzzles were extremely simple, and so were all other minigames. So I definitely hope the sequel will be a bit (or a lot ;-) ) more difficult. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

This is one of the best games I have played in a long time. I started playing this last night and I only got up to chapter 6 out of 12 before I had to go to bed. I am having so much fun with this. I do however have a few suggestions for the next installment of Valerie Porter. 1. Use the inventory system a little more. There were many scenes where you do not use the inventory at all. 2. Have hidden locations in a scene, such as, open a drawer for more hidden items that are need (for example: Need to find a file - Open file cabinet and solve some sort of puzzle regarding the file content to locate the file within). These are only suggestions - not improvements due to the fact that this game is AWESOME already. This is a MUST BUY! Can't wait to get back to finishing this game and I so hope there is an next installment and hopefully a series. Thanks, Becky Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

I downloaded this one from Big Fish last night. If this game is an example of what Playfirt's creators can do, they stand to make a lot of money. While the art and graphics are rather cartoonish, the storyline is not. I went eagerly from scene to scene, searching for the hidden objects, interacting with objects in the scenes, and figuring out the minigame puzzles, to discover what happens next. Valerie Porter is an intriguing as well as interesting character, as is her boss, the gruff and surly newspaper editor. And the gamer will soon find himself/or herself growing suspicious of the female editor/reporter, who seems to be determined ruin valerie's chances for a great career. This 1930s/1940s style mystery has more than enough drama to draw one in, and have them continuing to play the game to see who's behind these murders. When my hour of free play ran out I hurried to pay out my $6.99 so that I could continue with the game. About the only thing I didn't like was the photolab mini games, in which the player must properly mix the right amount of chemicals to solve the puzzle. After several frustrating tries at this, I finally resolved to skip these to get on with the story. Valerie Porter is a game well worth the price, and the time invested in playing it through. I look forward to future installments featuring these great characters! Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

I really liked this one. I purchased it before completing the trial! Good graphics, an intriguing storyline, even tho there were some things that had me shaking my head, like a reporter wondering why another reporter was out on a story in the middle of the night (the news never sleeps!). But that's the nit-picky (former) journalist in me. Also, it's not the most challenging game I've played. I didn't use many hints and no timer made it easy to linger on a scene. The mini games weren't all that exciting, but the game kept me interested until the end. The voice acting is *very* well done. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

I love this game. I found the voice acting really clear, the music fits the scene, the graphics are beautifully done, and a great story. The hidden objects to me were really easy to find. I only used the hint button twice, and as of now I am on chapter 5. They did an exceptional job with this game in every aspect. Kudos to the game makers. Okay, to be fair, the game's graphics are well done, the objects are pretty easy to find and it could have been a game that rocked. But--- too much cartoon dialogue, and the game got boring very quickly. You can earn extra things by finding bells and batteries, which was good. The mini-games were so-so. Overall, not that great of an experience. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

I truly enjoyed this game. All the parts were just right - HOs not too small, and mostly easy to find (it gets harder towards the end). I enjoyed the storyline and especially liked the write-up and headlines minigames (after all, she's a journalist). The one game I didn't like - because I don't think it worked right - was getting the photographs into focus. I never found the "expose" button to push, but then I couldn't get the photo into focus either. I've loved Play First ever since The Mystery of Shark Island (a very simple but addictive game). They seem to have a class outfit and don't put out half-baked games like several others I've tried lately. Now for a sequel, please. More Valerie! Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate
