The $19.95 Collector’s Edition will be exclusive to Alawar.com and Big Fish Games. The Collector’s Edition’s extras include a built-in strategy guide / walkthrough and a bonus chapter that can only be unlocked after the main scenario is completed and that, according to Alawar, provides about 25% more gameplay. A standard version lacking the special features will release later this fall.

And how can a harmless game make you jump out of your skin?Twisted Lands: Shadow Town is the first game in an upcoming new saga from Alawar Entertainment that will explore the emotion of fear.
The story revolves around a man who become stranded on an uncharted island when the small boat carrying him and his wife shipwrecks there. When he regains consciousness after the crash, the man finds that his wife is missing and there’s a mysterious ship in the distance with a hole ripped through its hull. Overcoming his fear of the unknown, the man sets off in the direction of the ship to find his love.
Gameplay looks to be a blend of point-and-click adventure with hidden object scenes and mini-games. As the man explores the island, he’ll learn about the people who were there before him.
According to Alawar Entertainment, Twisted Lands: Shadow Town aims to introduce a new level of horror and suspense into casual games. It’s one of the rare occasions that we’ve ever seen a disclaimer on a hidden object game cautioning that it’s intended for mature players.
What will we actually see? We didn’t get any hands-on time with the game so we can’t tell you. According to Alawar, though, the main character will “make one spine-chilling discover after another as he draws ever closer to the shocking conclusion.”
