Game Introduction - Titanic's Keys to the Past

Welcome to the Titanic’s Keys to the Past walkthrough on Gamezebo. Titanic’s Keys to the Past is a hidden object game created by National Geographic and Play Way. Travel back in time to the Titanic’s maiden voyage to solve a mystery and save your grandmother. Gamezebo’s quick start strategy guide will provide you with detailed images, tips, information, and hints on how to play your best game.

General Tips

Difficulty Modes

  • Difficulty modes aren’t prompted automatically when you start the game. However, when you go to “options” in the main menu and select the “difficulty” tab, you can choose between Casual, Advanced and Hardcore modes.
  • The default mode, if you do not specify a difficulty mode, is Advanced.
  • You can change difficulty mode at any point during the game by exiting to the main menu and selecting “options”.
  • It isn’t entirely clear what the differences are between the various modes, but it appears that the hint button recharges more quickly in the easier modes. Also, in Hardcore mode you do not get the option of skipping a puzzle by playing a match 3 game.

General

  • There are no cursor indicators anywhere in the game. Instead, you have to find your way around simply by randomly clicking items on the screen to see what happens.
  • As navigation can be a bit unclear in this game, this walkthrough will describe the routes you have to take step by step. Directions in images will be clearly indicated with green arrows.
  • There are many hidden object scenes (HOS) that are pretty straightforward – you simply need to find all items on a list. Note that there may be multiple items of the same kind even if you need to find only one. For example, in one scene there are three clearly visible spoons but you only need to find two. This means you need to figure out which of the spoons the game wants you to find.
  • There is a hint button in the bottom right of the screen that recharges pretty fast in all three difficulty modes. Using the hint button in HOS will clearly circle the general location of one of the unfound objects. Use of the hint button in general scenes is a little more obscure as it generates a tiny white sparkle in the direction you need to go. If you look at the wrong part of the screen when it appears and miss it, you need to wait till the hint button has recharged and try again.
  • In Casual and Advanced mode mini games can be skipped by selecting “match 3 mode” at the top of the screen. In match 3 mode you need to collect 200 points in a certain amount of time. The game ends when time runs out, not when you reach your target. If time runs out before you’ve reached your target, you can play again or go back to the original puzzle.

  • Click on the center of the clock to open it and put the roman numerals back in place. Note that some numerals are made up of various sections. For example VIII is made up of a V, a II and a I, so you need to find the correct V, II and I to make up the VIII. When a numeral is placed correctly, it will snap in place and stay fixed.

  • You can now zoom in on the locked gate at the back of the corridor.

Titanic's Keys to the Past

  • To open the bottom lock, refer to the document and find the letters that match the numbers 3, 15, 4 and 5, which are C, O, D and E (code!). Click the buttons beside these letters on the lock.
  • The top lock is a bit more difficult as the code on the paper is almost invisible. There is a series of 4-digit codes, but most of them contain numbers that are not on the lock. The circled area in the screenshot above contains code 1912, although this is pretty much invisible in the image. Enter 1912 into the top lock.

Titanic's Keys to the Past

  • Play the card game with the ghost or switch to match 3 mode.
  • The card game is a memory game in which you have to find pairs of identical images. If you make a wrong match, your opponent will have a turn. If you make a correct match you can go again. You need to make more correct matches than your opponent. The positions of the cards are different in each game, so they are not shown in a screen shot.
  • Next you need to play tic-tac-toe. Fortunately the ghost isn’t very smart so you’ll have no problem winning.
  • The ghost will give you the second half of the medallion. You can now talk to grandmother whenever the medallion is flashing.
  • Exit left.
  • Inspect the hatch on the right for a slider puzzle.

Titanic's Keys to the Past

  • This puzzle has been made a little easier by the fact that it has two empty spots rather than one.
  • You need to find the two missing pieces of the hatch.
  • Back out to the engine room.
  • Exit right to the room with the ladder.
  • The medallion will start to glow, so click it to talk to grandmother. She will tell you that you need to look in the reception room.

  • You get another HOS.

Titanic's Keys to the Past

Titanic's Keys to the Past

  • You receive the blue crystal.
  • Back out to the staircase and go right to the reception room.

Titanic's Keys to the Past

  • Zoom in on the mirror on the left wall and put the two crystals on the mirror for another puzzle or match 3 game.
  • This is a really unusual puzzle that’s quite tricky to explain. Basically, all the crystals on the mirror frame have a piece of the image attached to them. If you move a crystal, the image fragment will move with it. So, start by moving a random crystal one place up or down and watch what part of the image is attached to it and where it is in relation to the crystal. For example, a crystal may have the tip of the flagpole to the right and slightly above it. From that you can deduce that that crystal should be on the left side of the frame, near the top, so that the tip of the flagpole falls into place.
  • Behind the mirror is another HOS.
