This game definitely earns the throne in the match-3-genre ; or the gold medal if there was something like a olympic discipline called Casual Game-designing. Restaurant Rush differs from its prequel Burger Rush in more than one aspect. The player accompanies Heidi on a journey over different continents and helps her to manage different restaurant types, such as Italian, Chinese or Mexican.

There are to aspects that make Restaurant Rush absolutely unique. Firstly, the variety of upgrades is amazing and easily tops Fashion Fab that offered the most complex upgrade system. In the mall one can upgrade the recipes of the five different restaurant types, ordered by nationality. Here it is important to upgrade the different restaurant recipes equally, in order to be able to reach the daily goals in the later levels, too. Except that you can also upgrade the flavor and the efficiency of the soup- and the Ice-Tea-machine, as well as purchase a great variety of songs for the juke-box. Beside the mall there is the farmer's market, where you can increase the quality of the ingredients for the recipes, for example rice, beef, vegetables and tomatoes. The higher the quality of the ingredients, the higher the price of the different recipes gets. Here it is the same as with the recipes themselves, you have to increase the quality of all ingredients consistently, for avoiding too cheap meals in later stages.

The second thing that differentiates Restaurant Rush of other Match-3-competitors is the uncomparable fast-paced game-play. The board where the player has to match ingredients is always in movement. One never gets frustrated because of stucking as in other match-3-games. This is also caused by a wide range of bonus items that appear regularly on the board, such as milk shakes, which increase the patience of the angriest customer waiting, a cash register, an oven who destroys a whole row of ingredients when it is moved or tokens.

These 'tokens' are the important key to move on in the play and they are the currency in order to purchase upgrades. The player can earn them through different ways, i.e. For the daily goal or even reaching the expert goal as well as by fulfilling so-called bonus-challenges and by just clicking them when they appear on the board. The last possibiltiy are the cooking competitions which take place regularly during the game. In these competitions the player has to prepare a certain number of dishes. If one succeeds he earns a specific amount of tokens and money depending on his output.

Additional features of the game are the well-known different customer types and alternative endings which are influenced by the quality of the player's performance.

Some further comments on the upgrades: The soup and the ice tea get ready to be served after a certain number of matches. The player simply has to add them to the customer's menu and so increases the income. While the flavour of soup and ice-tea influences the price, decreases the efficiency of the machines the number of matches the player has to make until both of them are ready.

    Some tips for the gameplay:
    1) Just keep matching and don't spend too much time on caring which ingredients are needed for the actual orders because this just slows down your performance. While making matches you have a bunch of advantages: you earn additional money multiple matches in a row and there is a higher chance to get bonus items such as the oven or the milk shake, which make the gameplay a lot easier.
    2) Upgrade everything equally. Neither concentrate on the recipes, nor on the farmer's market or the soup machine. All of these things are important for the later stages, so it is a big mistake to neglect any of them.
    3) If you have the choice between two different restaurants play that one first of which you have more expensive recipes. It will be easier that way to fulfill the expert goal and thus to earn more tokens.
Waiting is always intelligent when it comes to using the bonus items. Only click them if it's really necessary, otherwise it would be just waste of worthful resources.

These are my first thoughts concerning Restaurant Rush, after I was finally able to purchase it. Yippie. Send a Kudo Post a reply Quote & Reply

Ooooh, I forgot something really important. When you serve customers in a row you also get money. It is always advisable that you serve three customers in a row (that is the highest amount you can do) because the money you get out of this chaining is a really important clue to get the expert goal even when you haven't that expensive recipes.

LOL, sorry this will be my last post here (for a certain time), but I just have to say: GAMENAUTS, if you read this, and I hope so, you guys are just awesome. I just noticed that the Crazy-Cat-Woman out of the Simpsons is a customer. I laughed so hard. Just great.

  • I totally agree with you OK

I totally agree with you OK great game. I'm glad you pointed out to play it like a Match-3 not by the order, you finish your orders faster and make expert easier. My only gripe is that you can't choose to replay a level. The only way I've found to do it is when you know you're finishing and can't make expert end the level(before it does) and start again.Keep an eye on the amount you need for expert-I didn't and missed out on one by 2 dollars!

I'm trapped on the Lunar level at the first restaurant.  My recipes are not expensive enough to finish this level.  I'm getting bored with the game too.  Need help to finish>
