Pets vs Orcs Preview

Forget knights and wizards. Dismiss rogues and clerics. Don’t even think about barbarians and archers. Orcs now need to tremble in fear when they think of cute, fuzzy, and adorable household pets. At least, that seems to be the case with Pets vs Orcs, a new game that’s set to come out next year.

Pets vs Orcs to offer a neat blend of city building and RTS early next year

Forget knights and wizards. Dismiss rogues and clerics. Don’t even think about barbarians and archers. Orcs now need to tremble in fear when they think of cute, fuzzy, and adorable household pets. At least, that seems to be the case with Pets vs Orcs, a new game that’s set to come out next year.

The gist of the game is that a village of pets have had their babies stolen by the local orcs. Naturally, this goes over like a lead balloon and the animals set out to get their young ones back.

In order to do this, you’ll have to engage in a combination of city-building and RTS combat. The first thing you’ll do is build up the village’s economy in order to start training your pets for their upcoming fights. The combat trials increase in difficulty as the fight with the orcs draws closer.

The pets gain experience through this system, which unlocks new buildings and animal types. After each successful battle takes place, you’ll find that you have more territory to utilize, thereby letting you engage in more city building.

Pets vs Orcs is due out for both the Android Marketplace and iTunes in “early 2012.”
