Aside from being a little short, the main problem I had was not knowing what to do in some instances. Otherwise a good looking and challenging game. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

I love this game, it is a great mind working game. When I come home from a stressful day, I love unwinding with games like this one. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

I can't understand the rating this game gets. All the reviews I've read start out by telling you to overlook the difficulty of figuring out what to do next, but they loved it anyway. I'm looking at a cursor that looks like a baby pacifier...am I the only one that sees that?? The graphics are really terrific, I admit. But I was stuck standing in front of the tall tree not too far along in the game, and realize I have to exit to go find a walk-through, because nothing I have in inventory is going to get me up there. Looks like I should be able to just walk up the stone stairway, but that would be too simple? I've only used about 20 minutes of the free trial, but I don't think I'll even bother to finish it. There are too many other good HOG's out there. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

I enjoyed the variety of puzzles and locations in Pahelika, but it did have a few problems that make it less than a 5 star game for me. It was often hard to identify inventory objects. There were no descriptions of objects once I'd picked them up, and often not before I picked them up either. So in puzzles where you're supposed to combine or use inventory, I'd be blindly trying everything on everything rather than making logical combinations. Also, some puzzles had no clues, and you had to "solve" them by trying all possibilities. For example, the lever puzzle in the machine-oriented world was like this -- I had to try all different positions of the levers to discover the correct one. There was another puzzle with red and green lights where the game provided you with clues while you were fumbling with the puzzle. That's not the best solution. Better to have the player find the clues themselves before starting the puzzle. Otherwise it's like having an automatic hint feature you can't turn off. The story was vague and uninteresting, but at least the narrator's voice was pleasant enough and his speeches not too long. Overall the game was fun and I was a little sorry to see it end. If Pahelika is the first game from this developer, it's a good start. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

In Vannessa's Game review - "Sometimes it feels like the creators of adventure games are working against you. Their games are filled with puzzles whose solutions are so obtuse, you begin to feel like they actually want you to fail." Well, that's how I feel about this game. I am half way through and feel like punching the monitor! The logic in this game is so bizarre I can't even explain it. I have played such games as Return To Ravenhearst and many, many other HO/Adventure games and have never had to use a walkthrough. Not so with Pahelika as I was looking at the walkthrough in almost every scene. Spock would call this game illogical. It has been more frustration then fun. Then I find the items in my tool bar have no identification what so ever and I don't have a clue what most of them are which means I don't know what to do with them. I am really sorry I bought this game. And I have only felt this way about 1-2 other games I have bought over the years. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

I really enjoyed this game, but I did have two quibbles with it. One was that the puzzle items did not have names or descriptions. How can you logic out a puzzle when you don't know what you're holding? The other is that one or two puzzles had no logical solution. Other than that...great game! An interesting take on the "Dream Chronicles" style adventure game. Good graphics, but if you want to follow the story, you have to sit through long, slow cutscenes. The game had good potential, but, for me, it just fell flat. I also had to rely on the walkthroughs to play, which took a lot of the fun out of it. The mechanics were a little clunky and I kept having to repeatedly click on things for it to take. The inventory items needed to be labeled, because it wasn't always easy to figure out what they were. I got halfway through the game in the demo and that was without skipping the slow story scenes. So, not very long, either! Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

IronCode made an interesting game that reminds me of both “Azada” and “Dream chronicles.” The only reason why I can’t really give this 5 stars is because I had to play pretty much the whole game with two different walkthroughs. It took some of the enjoyment and discovery out of it. But maybe that’s just a reflection of my own shortcomings and not necessarily the game. I don’t know. The jigsaw puzzles felt forced. Another issue I had was that it was too vague at times. Sometimes the next step just wasn’t logical or as obvious as I thought it should have been. But I think IronCode has the potential to make a more sophisticated “Azada/Dream Chronicles/Treasure Seekers II” type of game. This wasn’t exactly it. I think they’re close. They’re on the verge of something big. The graphics were good, but the colors were underwhelming. Too many browns. Another slight annoyance was all of the sparkling. It looked more like fireworks. I hope IronCode makes a sequel because they’re on the right track. I would definitely recommend it if you’re patient enough to work through some of the vagueness. Have a walkthrough at your disposal. I copied and pasted mine into Word. But everyone might not need it. Overall, I thought the atmosphere was unique. It was a good attempt. More of a hit than a miss. Just for comparison, “Dream Chronicles” and “Treasure Seekers II” are more fairytale like and enchanting. “Pahelika” is more static and mysterious. It just feels like you’re so alone and isolated. It was almost like a ghost town. It worked for this game. It kind of added to the overall flavor. But I hope they improve upon it next time. The good news, there’s room for growth. From here, I think it can only get better Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

I'm getting used to these adventure games where you have to use logic and reasoning to succeed in the challenge. Pahelika is one of the best I have played so far. I don't pay much attention to the stories, so can't comment on that. I know I have to figure a way out of each room and it has been challenging determining the solutions. The graphics are pretty good and I like how "hints" are provided by "sparkles", changing cursors, etc. Becomes progressively more difficult and challenging. Really liked this one - looking forward to the sequel. Some of the puzzles and/or steps you needed to take were not very intuitive, but most were very well thought out. Great graphics and a soundtrack I didn't need to turn off! Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

It's a good game! Interesting and fun. Awesome graphics. The creators must have went through a lot to make that game so good. I love adventure games and I've never felt this way before. I was left speechless after playing it. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

(More like 3.5) Needed something to play over the long weekend and this game has been in the top spot or thereabouts for awhile so decided to give it a try. Solid entertainment: decent story, well-organized; pretty scenes; mostly logical game play; items to be found fairly placed; not too many tedious repetitions to perform tasks. On the less great side, definitely short play time, needed better hint system (instead of essentially none) and none of the puzzles was that distinctive IMO. Only needed online helps a few times (which probably means the game is too easy for many, as I usually have to resort to walkthroughs a lot in these kinds of games) but never got exasperatingly and thoroughly stuck (unlike Dream Chronicles 3, for ex, in that blasted maze - ugh). All in all, decent fun for the money although I probably won't replay any time soon. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate

At last - after a sudden dearth of games lacking in imagination and too slow paced comes one which is challenging, engaging and which isn't so impossible that you just want to give up. You can skip through the dialogue (hurrah) and simply get on with playing through a series of interesting challenges. One of the best games i've played for a while.. Excellent game. Imaginative, good puzzles, and graphics are first rate. I have just minor complaints: some screens are way too dark. which leads to my second complaint. Many games when run in windowed mode have a working maximize button. This lets me have full screen but be able to move it to my brighter monitor (I have dual monitors). Since the Pahelika window's maximize button doesn't do anything I have to use the small window in order to have reasonable brightness. Still a bit hard on the eyes. some items are very difficult to make out. Now that I've finished the game, I'd say it is somewhat short - but a sequel is pretty much promised. I'll stick to my 5 stars. Incidentally, it's on BigFish now. Give this Review a Kudos Report as Inappropriate
