  To Mariavoe4, you need to use the oil can from the suitcase on the stairs.  You use the six bells to get the knife, with which you cut the man's ropes.  you give him tea, and he will give you the keys to the suitcase.  You take the oil can, pliers, and wrench and then use the oil can on the stairs (ladder).  Hope that helps.
