Am I the only one playing this game?
It has a walkthrough too, free, at BFG. The only problems I have with the game is you don't get Gold in battles, and you don't find a lot of it either.
And you fight the same enemies over and over ...in the same spots when you must back-track. It gets old, after so long. You can't see them until they are on you.
But the story is good and the characters too. It's fun to play in many ways. I enjoy it, but it's not Aveyond. (I love the Goodies, you see, in the Aveyond games)
And I like that the maps in the Aveyond games are such that you can see the overall view of the regions. Not like 3 Stars and the others, where it's piece meal. You never know what part you are in. No World Maps either for us to consult. ( However, the maps they do have are good ones.)
But it is worth the money at BFG if you like a challenge. There are several difficulty levels, from Very Easy to Hard. It has the Fight, Rush, and Escape options so you do have choices. Some of it is funny! Some of it is tedious for me. Most is fun. I haven't finished it yet. So some that have, can tell you more.
This is just my humble opinion of the game of course.

(sorry, I'm French talking ... !) I find also it's rather difficult, with no gold enough. I'm blocked after the Pinrock, with the green venimous frogs : no HP and other enough to live ... A real soluce will be welcome.

@SueDee:
You're definitely not the only person playing the game!!! Thing is to me the best board to go to when possible is always the developers, so check out Aldorlea for a big crowd of company, lots of helpful input and quite a few laughters!
As for gold the game designer intended it to be like that. Give it a bit of a real feeling, after all there aren't a great many deal of hunters that talk about finding gold in their prey's remains. However, all monster remains can be sold (do keep boss remains as those tend to be unique) and they are worth sometimes quite the big bucks, so that's really the way to go. When in a shop to buy your stock of restorative items just go to the sell option first and trade all those raw honeys, wings, feathers, nuggets and even a few meats if you have them in excess for gold and then procede with your buys!
Also there are quite a few Goodies in this game too, at least in my humble opinion, I enjoyed discovering every single one of those 24 secret rooms and some of them paid off quite nicely for the trouble they gave in being discovered!
Finally, regarding maps you should try using SurferGranny's - she is just a wonderful person doing all that work for us to enjoy. Look for links at Aldorlea or even at the BFG forum.
Happy gaming!

@Myrielle
(shhh... so is the game designer!) As I mentioned to SueDee in order to get gold just simply sell all those honeys and wings and even some meats you get in the begining of the game (later on there will be further variety in the items you can sell and they tend to be progressively more valuable as the game progresses).
With the money problem fixed you can then stock up in restorative items such as Alchemy Balms (that remove poison status) and Potions and Vials (to restore HPs and SPs). Also there are a few pieces of equipment that prevent your characters from getting poison status. If you talk to Jack (one of the brothers that lost his mum's purse) after defeating Chantefleur ghost but before returning his purse, he will give you as a reward a Thick Leather Coat. If you catch 10 snakes and give them to Thomas in Pinerock he will give you in return a Snake Suit! Wear both these coats one on Marine and one on Benoit and going through Scarlet River should become much easier!
A lot more tips and tricks are available at Aldorlea!
Happy gaming!

Dysgal's advice is spot on the money and should alleviate a lot of your early concerns. I purchased Millenium from the developer, clocked up 50 hours of gameplay and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
There is always a few little tricks with Aldorlea games and once you work those out you should find the game rewarding. There is fantastic help at the Aldorlea boards which cover pretty much every topic.
I personally loved the beautiful original graphics, enchanting story, music and a refreshing exploration of this genre. I encourage all RPG fans to give this game a go as there is so much depth and joy to discover with this game.
PS Dont be afraid to play this game on very easy mode. If you enjoy the goodies in Aveyond this will intensify your attack by 170% and make battles and levelling up a breeze (although there is still some strategy with the Animal Kings and Blue Jeannie, but definitely beatable as I encountered).

How do you get Benoit to join you? I killed the ghost and got the purse, then went back to Benoit and he says I can't join you now. Am I missing something?

Just procede to leave Pinerock; as you reach the exit Marine will witness something that will give her an idea and she will then want to go back and talk to Benoit!

I'm sorry but I can't think of any gate or stone... Do you mean the way back to Bogobaka? In any case the best for you to do is to go over at www.aldorlea.org and see the maps there. Try searching the topic "Maps for MM" by using the search box there!
