Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Preview

Fight games and touch screen devices have had a bit of a spotty track record so far, but if anyone can make it work, it’s Capcom. They’ve already proved as much with the release of the outstanding Street Fighter IV and Street Fighter IV: Volt, and now they’re ready to follow it up with a mobile port of a true fan favorite: Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

Capcom 2.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2

Originally released in the arcades back in 2000 and later ported to a multitude of home consoles (the Dreamcast version holding particularly fond memories for this very writer), Marvel vs. Capcom 2 pits the best and the brightest of Marvel’s superheroes against a roster of fighters from a variety of Capcom franchises, from Street Fighter to Mega Man.

All 56 playable characters from the original will be available, as well as the tag team Variable System and the crazy, screen-filling team hyper combos. It’s everything you loved about MvC2 in your pocket; no more, no less.

Capcom is remaining mum on multiplayer at this point, but it looks like we won’t have long to wait to find out. Marvel vs. Capcom 2 will be playable on the iPhone on April 25th.

Jim Squires is the Editor-in-Chief of Gamezebo. Everything you see passes his eyes first, so we like to think of him as "the gatekeeper of cool stuff." He likes good games, great writing, and just can't say no to a hamburger. Also, he is not a bear.
