As a follow up on the Strategy Guide, I noticed that the screen shots may appear very dark in certain browsers (Such as Firefox 3.5) that was just released.
I checked it with Internet Explorer 7.0 and they display a bit brighter there, so you might want to use a version of IE to display them, if you are having trouble seeing them.
I researched the Firefox 3.5 issue with images appearing too dark. It is due to the way 3.5 does Color Management. If you have Firefox 3.5, here is how to fix it:
In the Location bar, enter: about:config [Enter]
Ignore the warning about you voiding your warranty for Firefox.
In the filter box, enter:
gfx.color_management.mode [Enter]
Then right click and set the value to '0'
That should fix the problem.

Alright, I've finished the game with an A+ average twice - once on Apprentice difficulty and once on Magician - still no wand of keys for me. Am I missing something obvious? I have unlocked all the others, but have one spot left with a ? indicating I still have one to get which I assume is the wand of keys.
Help please?

I have looked at the walk through with both FF and IE7 and they are both the same on my PC. I have FF 3.5. They aren't dark to me.
Bluefrost, all the pieces of the two wands were in the chests in my game. I didn't realize there were two wands until after I completed the first wand. As it was, I didn't use them in the game. I had no chests left to open at the end so I'm not sure what is happening with your game. Do you have all the chests open?

HELP!!!! I LOVE the game, but I'm a little frustrated. I've been through ALL the chapters with an A+ on every one but STILL cannot unlock the Wand of Keys(according to Gamzebo's walkthrough, you have to complete ALL chapters and recieve an A average to unlock it). Does that mean you have to play all the DIFFICULTY levels all the way through?? If anybody has unlocked it, could you PLEASE tell me how you did it?? Thank you!!Send a Kudo Post a reply Quote & Reply

I finished the game, the other day, and found it very good!! Yes, I used a lot of hints, because the objects were pretty small!! LOL I wish there was a hint, for th keys!! I missed a few of them.
I am starting to play the second time and have the wand of keys, but not sure how it works??? I don't seem to see it glow or anything. I did end up with an A score, but hoping to get A+ this time!
Linda, can you PLEASE!!! PLEASE!!! PLEASE!!! tell me how you got the Wand of Keys?? I've tried and tried(I've played through all levels and chapters with an A+ overall average but still no wand) THANKYOU!!!

Scooter, yes I've opened all the chests. Are you saying there are 2 wands to get to the wand of keys?
As it is for me right now I have 5 wands I can choose from: Basic Wand, Fancy Wand, Enchanted Object Wand, Wand of Revealing and Wand of Time. There are 6 slots for wands as you know and I still have 1 free with a ? in it.

There are not parts for the wand of keys. It is there on the far
right of the book, top line, excluding the single key in the middle. If
you use the same character name it IS there. If you change your
character name for the next go round it is not. It's as simple as that.Bluefrostin. There are not 6 key positions, there are 7.
Linda B: Like all of the wands, the wand of keys does not work every time there is a key in the sceen. The best way to use it is slow and steady over the screen. If you have still not found the key you need when you are close to the end of the items list, I suggest you do not NOT find the the last item or two and on that map and go back there when you are done. When you use the wand of keys, you will find that the red spot on it glows. The area that it glows in is rather large. You are looking for the area that it pulses most rapidly in, and you still have to search that area. The wand of keys is NOT a "key reveal" It is a key area indicator.
Please, also, know, that if you are using the wand of keys, and happen to go rapidly from 1 area to another looking for the next hidden object, you very well may see one pulse. That is not the key lo9cation unless you are darned lucky. It merely means that you passed through the key area on your journey through the screen. (In other words: it's time to backstep )

The last magic wand is the wand of keys. The only way to get it is to finish the game with an average score of A or better.
I know, that's what's soooooo FRUSTRATING!!!! I've finished EVERY chapter with an A+ score and STILL nothing!!!! lol

Legendia, I'm aware there are no parts to the wand and that one is to obtain it by achieving an A average in all chapters, however, the Wand of Keys is still not there despite me having done this and that I have not changed usernames. As I see it in my game, there are 6 wand positions and 1 arrow position. Perhaps this is what you're referring to when you mention "key positions"? I'm only asking to be sure I properly understand what you're saying.
For me, it looks like this in the book where you select the wand you'd like to use (W= wand; A= golden mouse arrow):

The objects are just as hard to find in this one as the last, and I did not have any idea how to use the hint system, am I the only who could not figure it out?????You get 5 reveals to start with for each chapter. All you have to do is click on one of the pink circles in the reveal globe on the bottom right hand side of the screen. After those are used up, the globe slowly fills back up to give you another reveal.There are also other ways to get reveals. Some of the boxes in Safe Haven have full reveals in them. If you click on one of those, you get 5 more reveals. I've had as many as 5 of those available for the game. The other way is to use a wand of reveal. Three of the boxes in Safe Haven have the pieces of them within. You can change wands once your reveal wand is complete by clicking on the blue book in the right hand corner of the screen and clicking on the reveal wand to select it. It restores individual reveals fairly rapidly.I've tried and tried to get the answer to this question: how does one know what to look for in the scene to find the object that one is using the reveal button to find. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hi pnk when you clcik on reveal it will send a ball of light to an object that is in your list of objects to find.

You turned off the 3D option. The reveal button does NOT function unless you have the 3D box checked, pnk.

Yes. You are correct. I'm not sure why you didn't get it. Someone else pmed me about it this am. I'll have to pm Bryce and see if he's had any other complaints about it. That question mark is where the wand of keys should be, blue.

Items are way to small - older eyes would have a difficult time finding the items. I would not recommend for older adults who have vision problems. Don't waste your money

I have to agree. I used so many reveals it was ridiculous. Usually, when I use a hint in a HOG, I'm embarrassed that I didn't see it in the first place. Not in this game. Half the time, it was either too dark or too small to figure out what the heck it was.
This was tedious at best.

me to test it as part of a response to me about something else. The
wand of keys problem has been pinpointed. I didn't pinpoint the
problem Bryce did. Believe it or not, there was a small bit coding
error that had to do with the enchanted wand that caused the problem.
As of last pm from Bryce, there will be an updated and (hopefully final
version) of the game this coming week. This could not have been tested
in beta, because the wand of keys was not available. We found an error
in the calculation of the final score that caused the maximum score to
be B+. I'll let you know when the update is posted. -
Legendia, thanks for the info, regarding the "Wand of Keys"!! I haven't gotten back to the game (second time through) for a little while. I will test out your intstructions about using it, when I get a chance to get back to the game.
I never did open all the chests, as I didn't find all the keys, but still got the key of wands, at the end. This time I will start opening the chests with the most keys, first and then go to the lower ones.
One of these days, I will be back with my results. I really do enjoy the game, even if the items are small and I need the reveal hint quite a few times!! LOL

I'll check back another time and just reinstall then if they put a new/fixed version out. Really, other than the wand of keys issue, I've been happy with this and the previous Magician's Handbook HOG. I usually rip through most HOG's within a short time and become bored and frustrated at how fast they go by. This one can hold my attention for awhile. I appreciate that!

Wand of Keys if you unlocked the Wand of Enchanted Objects before the
first time you complete the game with an A grade. This has been fixed,
and its now available for download off of the bcsoftgames website. Its
version 1.03, which you can see on the title screen in the upper right
corner (in small semi-transparent text). Let me know if you have any
problems, you should be able to redownload and install over top of your
old version and be good to go, *but* it will delete your save data!
(just to warn you). -

I'm problems w/ the magical gallery putting the sword in the painting. I think the lantern need lit a certain way. Handbook diagram don't work. Help

I am having trouble in the cave trying to free the fairies. I freed the first one, but now the game will not allow me to use the second spell to free the next one. When I use a hint, it points to the rune, but the hints still continue to be for the first spell. I checked with the Hints and Tips above, but it suggested that it automatically goes to the second spell. Does anyone have a suggestion?
