The original “Lost Cities’ is one of the highest rated two player games from the Kosmos two-player series. The object is to mount profitable expeditions to one or more of the five different lost cities. Card play is straightforward, with agonizing moments sprinkled throughout a fast-moving game. When a players starts a given expedition, they are required to make progress in it, or else risk scoring negative points. The more progress made, the higher the scores. After three rounds, the highest total score takes the day. Winner of the 1999 Meeple’s Choice Award, 2000 International Gamer’s Award, and the 4 player version of the game won the prestigious Spiel des Jahres award in 2008. “Lost Cities Solo” on Facebook, preserves much of the strategy and tactics of the original game, but adapts the game play from player versus player to player versus system. The player has to make agonizing decisions about whether to commit to an expedition among unknown lands with incomplete information.
