  • How frustrating for you!

How frustrating for you!  The game does work for most people, so I'm not sure what the problem might be. It's not particularly graphics or sound intensive.

My suggestion would be that you first uninstall any old copies you have. Then download the demo from Big Fish Games. If you still have the problem, contact their technical support. They are really helpful and can usually tell you if the game will work for you or not.

Good luck!  I really enjoyed this game, so I hope you get to play it.

    Report as Inappropriate

I've had the exact same problem as stated above. After installing the full version game, bought at Target, I was frustrated by it quitting and returning to the computer's desktop, after clicking on "Start the Case". I went to the driver sites to download the latest FlashDrive and DirectX. Didn't work. I uninstalled it, and tried the above suggestion of the demo from from Big Fish.  That version worked just fine.  Then, went back to install again the full version I had bought, etc.  But, same problem.

How did you finally get yours to work?? You stated "Problem is solved"... but didn't say how you did it.

    Can you please help?

    Thanks.

This is a problem caused by the newer version of macromedia flash player because the same thing happened to me.  There is a patch for this problem.   Here is a place (there are many) you can download the patch from:

http://downloads.gamezone.com/demos/d25199.htm or you can google The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes patch and many other sites will come up.

It is called The Lost Cases of Sherlock Holmes patch v. 1.1  Unzip the file and click on the exe file and install it in the same directory as your game.  I had no trouble with this file, but it's always good to run a downloaded file through your virus and adware/spyware scan checker first.  Once the patch is installed, this game will work again.

This is weird.  I wonder if they change around.  Okay, I'll read off from my screen print:  Grey hair/art enthusiast - owner; art enthusiast/hat - rival collector; art enthusiast/facial hair - Reginald; Blue Eyes/Grey hair - Butler; Blue Eyes/Hat - Forger; Blue Eyes/Facial Hair - Art Curator; Glasses/Grey Hair - Cleaning Woman; Glasses/Hat - Night Watchman; Glasses/Facial Hair - Locksmith.  If this doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you except somehow I could try to send you a screenshot.  Let me know if this works.

  •   Hi, Yes they do change,

    Hi,

Yes they do change, everytime you restart that case they change, the order in which they are placed also changes ie: top to bottom or left to right.  I found if you run your cursor over each pic it will only indicate the 1 that is incorrect if they are in the correct place there is nothing.  Hope this helps.

But what may not change is who is what.  For example, the glasses and hat will probably always belong to the night watchman, and the glasses and facial hair will always belong to the locksmith.
