I have tried to find the hat in peter's room and can't. Would you be willing to give more of a clue?

I just wanted to chime in here and clear up some possible confusion. The Sherlock bonus caps can actually appear in any of the locations throughout the game, however, only one hat will appear in each case. So, in the Mystery of the Billiards Blackmailer for example, if the cap appears in Peter Moffat's flat for one person it may appear in the workshop for another or the Diogenes club for someone else. Sorry to rain on your excellent research Kayleigh_ but I think this is why scrubsforn can't find the hat in Peter's room.

Im really sorry for this confusion, as I played the game four times through and found every hat every time in the same place, I thought, that this was for everyone :(((((((

Hey Kayleigh, Don't worry about it. I usually write the locations of such things in my walkthroughs but I noticed that they changed for me so I decided to leave that part out of the guide.
Look on the bright side, that list will help a lot of players who happen to have the same locations as you. So it's still a big help and I think it was great of you to take the time to write it!

I have played this game 3-4 times and still cannot find the 16th hat! I'm beginning to think that it doesn't exist. Can anybody help?

as the place of the objects are random, the gamepart of where the hat is hidden does not change. So I made a list with it. You need all hats to unlock the bonuslevel.
And as it is sometimes a bit difficult to find the differences in the 'spot'-parts, I listed also all the items, you need in the level. Maybe it will help you to safe one or two hints.
