This is a fantastic game with a lot of diversity and much challenge.  I feel that the Tutorial is not quite adequate especially for newbees, but it is a great learning tool for School kids and families also.Buy it. Send a Kudo Post a reply Quote & Reply

Legacy: World Adventure has a pretty good story: a dirigible race from country to country. In order to find your next destination, you need to solve a puzzle mini-game (or two--your choice) about that country. The puzzle clues are a photograph, a sentence about the country, identifying the country flag, or elimination of incorrect countries. There is also a mini-game (not a Match-3 type) that opens the next chapter.

This is a great take on Match-3 games. It has three styles of match-3 mini-games (although they are all variations of swaps) that make the game interesting, and the result of the mini-game is well worth playing it. I found the photo clues most useful (and its mini-game the most fun) because I could determine pretty well from the architecture in which country it was probably located, but not always. Occasionally, the photo clues are landscapes (a famous mountain, a flock of sheep, a stone gate overlooking the ocean) and I thought these were harder. The sentence clues are interesting bits of trivia (did you know that the national bird of Japan is the golden eagle?). In the beta version of the game, the country-elimination mini-game didn't work very well. It was too short a time to work through (it always ended even before the "shuffle bar" filled up, which is supposed to help eliminate more countries).I didn't get around to playing the the country's flag mini-game because I don't know beans about flags (but this game can teach me a lot).

If you choose the correct country, you're given a subscreen giving yet more interesting facts, such as the country's land mass, population, and languages spoken.

Legacy: World Adventure is an untimed game, which takes the pressure off and allows you to consider alternate moves. This is particularly important in the game that reveals the photograph. A grid is drawn on an odd-shaped playing field, and colored beads are dropped along the grid lines. When you choose a color, you have to be sure that you connect the beads along all the available lines, and good connections reveal a part of the photo. Careful planning and use of the "Rainbow" beads can open several parts at a time.

Even in its beta version, I found the replay value in this game to be very high. Each time I played through I'd take a different approach to the clues--tried the trivia clues instead of the photos, or a combination. It is an interesting arm-chair world tour.

This isn't a game just for geography buffs, students, or world travelers. Anyone who has an interest in the world today and all Match-3 gamers will probably enjoy it. This game would do well in high-school computer labs to augment geography studies. It's certainly not just for kids by any means--I've been an adult for many years.

I did have some issues with the beta version besides the country-elimination mini-game ending so quickly. I would have liked a game to play for each country before I moved on to the next. For instance, a jig-saw puzzle of the photograph or anagrams of the country name, perhaps. I found just going from one country to another rather anticlimatic; I'd have liked to stay a while. Also, I wonder why all the new games seem to feature girl principles, as does this one. Whatever happened to the boys? Having a choice of characters or atavars would be nice.

All tolled, though, this is a really fun, imaginative, and unique game.
