Has anyone actually been able to play this game? I downloaded it from Playfirst and barely made it through the opening credits before it crashed.
Reopened it and tried again...crashed halfway through making my "avastar".
Reopened it a third time and it crashed during the tutorial to the point I had to do a hard restart of my computer.
Needless to say, I've uninstalled it...but either this game has MAJOR issues or a virus piggybacked on it.
Either way, I'm very disappointed. I was really looking forward to playing it!

i played the game working just fine but the game is not that much good so forget about even trying it

I DL the game and installed and played the one hour free trial just fine, although I think due to the graphic card setting, it is a little blur.

Hi! I'm the CEO of Social Game Universe, the publisher of Hollywood Tycoon. I'm really glad to see your comments here and I love the great review of our game... it was a real labour of love! Anyway, I am sad to hear it's not working for one of the players... it has worked well and gone through pretty rigorous quality assurance... but there's always a few computers that find issues... unfortunately I don't have enough info to help you when you say it is crashing... so can you submit it to Play First support?
Also - for the screen resolution issues, perhaps you can try minimizing (the icon in the bottom left for screen size) and the maximizing again? If you run in windowed mode (when the game doesn't fill the screen) you will see what the graphics are intended to look like. With some screens when the game resizes to a different resolution ratio (ie not exactly 4:3) the pixels look blurry. It's a shame about that since the style looks really good when the pixels show up best... so consider putting your monitor at a resolution ratio of 4:3 (800x600, 1200x900, etc).

I liked this game very much. I played the first time and didn't realize I had to manually SAVE the game or lose my progress, there is no auto-save. I restarted from scratch and went fairly fast to level 4 because I knew what I was doing the second time around. I manually saved this second game when my gear was completely full in all four areas and my gear stars were showing on the finished film screens, but when I re-loaded the game, all of the gear stars were gone! The four gear boxes are still full, they just don't show on the finished films. Without the gear stars it's impossible to make good money. Even if I start all over again for a third time, there is no guarantee that the gear stars won't disappear again on a saved game. I don't know how to get the gear stars to load again when my gear is already full.

DL and the thing crashed on me during the trial and closed itself on its own. Tried playing again during the trial and made it to the main menu and that's it. couldn't even get a game going to test it out. good thing i didn't waste money on it.
