Played and educated. Watched this program b4, liked the story. Anyway, most part of this game is about Hiidden Objects. Puzzle Solving part isn't difficult at all.

National Geographic Channel writes about the game:

Herod the Great is one of the Old Testament’s worst villains, best known for ordering the massacre of all male children in Bethlehem under 2 years old. Herod’s bloody reputation has obscured the fact that he was also one of the greatest architectural masterminds in world history.

It seems if NGC exalts Herod, despite his cruelties.

If NGC would say the same about Hitler, the game would be forbidden:

Hitler is one of world’s worst villains, best known for the massacre of millions jewish people.  His cruel reputation has obscured the fact that he was also one of the greatest architectural masterminds of the construction of motorways.

    Very doubtfully…

  • When I saw this game on BF

When I saw this game on BF today, I was excited that Nat Geo was putting out a HOG.  Then I started to play the demo. DISAPPOINTED!!  The movie parts were blurry, the color on the graphics were all neutrals, the objects were small (even using a magnifiying glass) and many didn't even look like what they were supposed to be.  I would never buy this game and I am a fan of HO games.

sanne, it's just a game. I don't think the makers are calling Herod a genius or anything else. Yes, Herod was dispicable, and evil, but he is definately a fascinating subject for study. This game was enjoyable, with great art, and pleasant mini games.

As for Hitler, he was the most evil, yet most fascinating human that ever lived. Would I play a game centered on this odious man? Yes!

Hi, I was actually involved in the game project and I agree completely.  I don't see why it is any worse to use Herod in a game than in a television event (which the game was tied to).  It's better to use it as a teaching tool to the many gamers who are not history fans and probably had never heard of Herod.  The best way to avoid history repeating is to know history.
